Will of George Keplinger

In the name of God, Amen. The 21st day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy (1870). I George Keplinger of the Township of county of Grant of state of West Virginia, Gentleman, being through the blessing of God, in a sound state of mind and memory, but calling to mind the frail tenure of this life, and that it is appointed to all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all, I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God who gave it me and the disposal of my body I leave to the entire discretion of my friends. With respect to my worldly estate, I give, bequeath and dispose of it, in the manner and proportions here following-

First, I give and bequeath to Juliann Groves of the County of State aforesaid the sum of two thousand dollars ($2000) current money of the United States to be paid to her within twelve months after my decease. The two thousand dollars ($2000) to be paid out of my real estate the said money to be secured on my estate in the county and state aforesaid. My executor is empowered sell and convey the real estate for said purpose.

Also, I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Catharine Keplinger all, both personal and real of my estate with all and singular moneys, bonds, tenements, household, kitchen furniture and funded property with the exceptions above made in favor Juliann Groves to have to hold during the course of her natural life. At the death of Catharine Keplinger my wife, or within as short a time as sale and collection can be made my executor is after all expenses are deducted to place the residue thereof in the proper authority of the United Brethren Church or the branch of the Christian Church so called and of the Virginia Conference of the same and by them to be placed in the Mifsionary Fund of the said Church and be used for that purpose and no other. And as a fund set apart by me in honor of my belove3d church and for the spreading of the Gospel in heathen lands.

Finally I make Cornelius Parsons my sole executor of this my last will and testament all and singular my lands tenements, with the above exceptions. My wife I recommend into his most especial notice.

And I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments, wills, legacies bequests, and executors, by me in any way before named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming, this and no other, to be my last will and testament. In wifnefs whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

On the 9th day of May 1870 � The within Last Will and Testament was produced to me in my office and proved by the oaths of James Parks, Snowden Scott and Cornelius Parson, the subscribing witnefses, whereupon the said will was admitted to record.
