Dr. Lorraine McNeill Hutson, D.D.S., 92, of Petersburg, died Oct. 16, 2000 at his residence.

Born Aug. 31, 1908, in Keyser, he was the son of the late Hammond J. and Lena R. (McNeill) Hutson. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Virginia (Cunningham) Hutson, May 22, 1971.

He is survived by his wife, Orpha (Halterman) High Hutson; two sons, Dr. H. McNeill Hutson, D.D.S., of Harrisonburg, Va. and Dr. William R. Hutson, M.D., of Salt Lake City; one stepson, Allen High of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two grandchildren, Wesley M. Hutson and Megan L. Hutson; and two stepgrandchildren, Megan J. High and Justin N. High.

Memorial services were Oct. 19, at the Petersburg Presbyterian Church, with private interment in Maple Hill Cemetery, Petersburg.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg.

Betty Ann Hoover 60 of Maysville, died May 17, 2002 at her home.

Born July 9, 1941, in Leadmine, Tucker Co., WV, she was the daughter of the late Norman H. Pennington and Gaye M. (Likens) Pennington Mowery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard L. Hoover in 1985.

She is survived by on son, Ricky A. Pennington, Harrisonburg, VA; two daughters, Alesia Hoover of Maysville and Alexia Oates-Summers of Singers Glen, VA; three sisters: Sherry Charlton of Edinburg, Ca, Linda S. Pennington of Petersburg, and Wilma Avila of Illinois, three  brothers, Richard N. Pennington, of Cabins, Russell L. Pennington, and Roger L. Pennington, both of Petersburg. seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 20 at the Lighthouse Community Church, with interment in the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, WV  Schaeffer Funeral Home in charge.

Charles Russell Hughes Sr., 80 Antioch, died Saturday evening Nov 16, 1968  at the Grant County Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, following an illness of one week.

A native of Mann�s Choice, PA, Mr. Hughes was a son of the late William and Margaret (Wyent) Hughes; his wife Mrs. Ina V. (Rotruck) Hughes preceded him in death, January 19, 1963.  He as a retired carpenter.

Surviving are a son, Eugene Hughes of Antioch, a stepson, Ted Hartman of Miami, Florida; a daughter, Mrs. Alreda Whittaker of Moorefield; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Helen Baker of Keyser and Mrs. Geraldine Sullivan of Miami, Florida; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

The body is at the Rogers Funeral Home, where friends will be received after 2 p.m. today and will be taken to the Knobley Church of the Brethren at noon tomorrow for services at 2 p.m. by Rev. Herman Baliles and Rev. Laurean Smith.  Burial will be in the Knobley Cemetery.

Charles Russell Hughes Jr., 45, former resident of Keyser died yesterday, January 08, 1968 of a heart attack at North Shore Hospital, Miami, Florida.

Born September 16, 1923, Keyser, WV.  He was a son of Charles Russell Hughes Sr., Antioch and the late Ina (Rotruck) Hughes.

Mr. Hughes was a retired U. S. Navy Chief, veteran of World War II and Korean War and was a member of Keyser Church of the Brethren.

Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, Grace Hughes; a daughter, Mrs. Roxie Ann McCann of Norfolk, Virginia; a brother Eugene Hughes of Antioch; three half sisters, Mrs. Helen B. Baker of Keyser, Mrs. Galen Whittaker of Moorefield and Mrs. Geraldine Sullivan of Miami, Florida; a half brother, Theodore Hartman of Miami, Florida and five grandchildren.

The body is at the Van Orsdel Funeral Home, Miami, Florida where services will be held Thursday.  Interment will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery, near Denver, Colorado.

Eileen Delores Hinkle, 68, of Lumberport, and formerly of Maysville, died Sunday, February 14, 1999 at her home.

Born January 16, 1931, in Maysville, she was the daughter of the late Dewey M. and Anna V. (Simmons) Keplinger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Otha E. �June� Hinkle May 02, 1996.

Mrs. Hinkle was a member of the United Methodist Church in Glenville.

She is survived by one son, Mark E. Hinkle of Lumberport; two daughters, Terry L. Rinehart of Lumberport and Beverly A. Walters of Clarksburg; four grandchildren; Bradley L. Walters, Monica R. Walters, Brandon T. Rinehart and Kelci M. Rinehart; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends today (Tuesday), from 9-10 a.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral home, Petersburg.  The Rev. Charles C. Snyder will officiate at 11 a.m. graveside services with interment following in the Maysville Cemetery

The Rev. Robert Earl �Bob� Houff, 74 of Dorcas, died Sunday, February 07, 1999 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Born December 13, 1924, he was the son of the late Sydney Earl and Anna (Carter) Houff.

Rev. Houff was a retired minister with the Church of the Brethren, having served the York Center Church in Illinois, Barren Ridge, Beaver Creek, Montezuma, Mt. Bethel, Uniontown, PA, Harrisonburg, Summerdean (Roanoke, VA), Waynesboro and South Mill Creek churches of the Brethren.  He graduated from Bridgewater College in 1945.  He was a member of the Athletics Hall of fame at the Bridgewater College and a national board member for the Christian Ministries in the National Parks.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Arnold) Houff, whom he married June 03, 1945; three sons, Robert A. Houff of Elizabethtown, PA, Marin D. Houff of Bethel, PA ad Terry E. Houff of Herndon, VA; one brother, James Lee Houff of Champagne, Illinois; and seven granddaughters.

A memorial service was Saturday afternoon at the Montezuma Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Craig A. Howard and the Rev. James Beckwith officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, Virginia, Church of the Brethren general Board, Elgin, Illinois or in the form of a camp scholarship to the camp of the donor�s choice.

Dorothy Helen (Brennan) Hodges, 71 of Arthur, died Wednesday January 16, 2002 at her home.
Born February 25, 1930 in Maysville, she was the daughter of the late Mark F. and Mary Jane (Rohrbaugh) Brennan.  She was also preceded in death my three sisters, Mary Cornell, Anna Rotruck, and Julia Smith and three brothers, Thomas Brennan, Noah Brennan, and James Brennan.

Mrs. Hodges was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Petersburg.

She is survived by one son, Robert Hodges of New London, Connecticut; five daughters, Roxanne Ackerman of Homeworth, Ohio, Lola Holden of Silvis, Illinois, Regina Scidel and Glenna Hodges, both of Oakdale, Connecticut, and Ramona Hodges of Niatic, Connecticut; two sisters, Agnes B. Rexrode of Arthur, and Lillian Brown of Branford, Florida; one brother, Daniel P. Brennan of Baltimore, Maryland; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial was Monday morning at St. Mary�s Catholic Church with Father Mario R. Claro officiating.  Interment was in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville.

Memorials contributions may be made to St. Mary�s Catholic Church.

Katheryn Haggerty, 85 formerly of 500 Carskadon Lane, Keyser died Monday July 15, 2002, at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit, Romney WV,

Born on November 27, 1916, in Williamsport, WV, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. and Malinda Ellen (Simpson) Wallace.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Blair S. Haggerty, who died on July 09, 1978, two brothers, Fred Wallace and Harry Junior Wallace; and a sister Amy L. Hartman.

Mrs. Haggerty was a homemaker.

Surviving are her son, Daniel Joseph Haggerty and wife Carol of Boonsboro, Maryland; one brother, Charley Wallace and wife Lee Anna, of Keyser; one sister, Frances Takach of Canal Fulton, Ohio; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.   

Funeral services will be conducted at the smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Melvin Bontrager and Rev. William Hartman officiating.


At Mrs. Haggerty�s request, her body will be cremated and her ashes scattered in �the hills of West Virginia".

Clyde Elwood �Brovie� Hines Jr., 31 of Maysville, died Wednesday, October 24 in Maysville.

Born June 05, 1970 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of Clyde E. and Eileen M. (Dolly) Hines of Maysville.  He was preceded in death my paternal grandfather, Virgil J. Hines and maternal grandfather, Cletus W. Dolly.

Mr. Hines was employed by Pilgrims Pride Corp. in Moorefield. He graduated from Calvary Christian Academy in Baltimore in 1988.

Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Judy Poore of Maysville, paternal grandmother, Vina C. Hines of Dorcas; maternal grandmother, Katherine Dolly of Petersburg; one niece, Jaclyn Poore, one nephew, James Poore Jr. and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were Saturday morning, at the Schaeffer Funeral home chapel, Petersburg, with Pastor Ted Anderson and Roy Marshall officiating.  Interment was in the Maysville Cemetery, Maysville.

Memorial may be made to Potomac Valley Baptist Church, 8856 highway 42 South, Maysville, WV 26833.

Jacob Hall, 67, of Rd 2 Keyser, died Monday June 03, 1968 at Potomac Valley Hospital.  He had been in ill health for a year and a half.

He was a retired employee of the Celanese Fiber Company.

Born in Maysville, he was the son of the last Scott and Susan (Feaster) Hall. His first wife, Edna G. (Rotruck) Hall died in 1964, and his second wife Lucy (Grove) Hall died in 1967  

Surviving are two sons, John M. Hall, Keyser and Virgil R. Hall, Baltimore, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Arvella Cox, Keyser and Mrs. Nola Mae Thompson, New Creek; one daughter Mrs. Lucy Keplinger, Lahmansville; two brothers, Thomas Hall, Petersburg, Howard S. Hall, Chicago, IL and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be conducted today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at the Lahmansville E. U. B. church with Rev. Lowell R. Rogers, Rev. Harding Nelson and Rev. R. C. Lymburner officiating.

Interment will be in Lahmansville Cemetery.

Calvin L. Hanlin, 66 of Keyser died Wednesday, March 26, at his residence.

Born April 05, 1930 at Mt. Storm, he was the son of the late John R. and Virginia (See) Hanlin.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Raymond Hanlin; and one sister, Ruth Conn.

Mr. Hanlin was a former employee of the WV ABC Store in Keyser and several local restaurants.

Surviving are one brother: Douglas Hanlin of Keyser; five nephews, Jerry Hanlin, John Hanlin, Jeff Hanlin, Ronald Shanholtzer and James Shanholtzer; four nieces. Joy Shreve, Reita Robinette, Leica Riggleman and Linda Kessel; several great nieces and great nephews and great great nieces and great great nephews.

Funeral services were Saturday morning at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home chapel, Keyser, with the Rev. Herman L. Baliles officiating.  Interment was in Mt. Storm Cemetery at Mt. Storm.

Mrs. Louella Marie Harbaugh, 57, of RD 3 Rawlings, died Wednesday August 25, 1976 at Sacred Heart Hospital.  She had been in ill health.

Born in Petersburg, she was a daughter of the late Jasper A. and Rella (VanMeter) Kimble.  Mrs. Harbaugh was a retired employee of Celanese Fibers Company and was a member of Dawson United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Melvin L. Harbaugh, and three sisters, Mrs. Leoda Cox, Keyser, Mrs. Hazel Kile, Rd 3, Dawson and Mrs. Joy Alt, Landes.

A service was conducted Sunday at the Rotruck funeral Home in Keyser by the Rev. William Sansom.  Burial was in Potomac Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Edith V. Hawk,
94, of Elk Garden, died April 11, 2005 at her residence.
Born Feb. 22, 1911, at Maysville, she was the daughter of the late Noah W. and Katie (Keplinger) Rohrbaugh. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, R.W. "Bob" Hawk, Sept. 17, 2004; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Hawk, along with her late husband, owned and operated Hawk's Hardware Store in Elk Garden, since 1941. She was Methodist by faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Juanita Augustine of Summerfield, Fla.; one brother, Noah W. Rohrbaugh Jr. of Maysville; one sister, Wilda Carr of Baltimore; three grandsons, Michael W. Hallet, Patrick R. Hallet and Robert J. Hallet; and two great-grandsons, Jake Hallet and Jordan Hallet.

Funeral services were April 11, at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, with interment in Maysville Cemetery.

Born Nov. 18, 1895 in Hardy County, she was a daughter of the late Richard Pennington and Margaret (Mongold) Pennington. Her husband, Oce Hall, died in 1961.

Surviving are one son, Charles (Buck) Hall and one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Sherman, both of Petersburg; one grandchild and two great- grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday at the Arnold-Basagic Funeral Home by the Rev. Myers Kimmel. Interment followed in the Lahmansville Cemetery.

Mrs. Ethel Hedrick, 93, of Petersburg died Sunday, March 27, 1983, at Grant Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Born in Grant County May 12, 1889, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Crites and Hannah (Sites) Crites. Her husband, Arthur Hedrick, died in 1962. She was also preceded in death by three sons, one daughter, four sisters and three brothers.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Davida Cleaver, Moorefield, Miss Verda Hedrick of Petersburg, with whom she made her home; one son, William Hedrick, Hershey, Pa.; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Arnold-Basagic Funeral Home, Petersburg, today (Wednesday) from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted tomorrow (Thursday) at 11 a.m. in the Hedrick Chapel United Methodist Church at Dorcas, where Mrs. Hedrick was member. The Rev. Richard Longbon will officiate. Interment will be in the Hedrick family cemetery at Rough Run.

The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services.

Mrs. Lottie (Alt) Reel Hockman, 81, died Monday, September 1, 1986, at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.

Born in Pendleton County February 10, 1905, she was a daughter of the late Hanry Alt and Levina (Kimble) Alt.

Mrs. Hockman was member of the Falls Assembly of God Church, Maysville. Her first husband, John Oliver Reel, died Dec 10, 1965.

Surviving are two sons, Ralph C. Alt, Burlington; Charles Reel, Placerville, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Ann Hess and Mrs. Irene Berg, both of here; Mrs. Louella Rodgers, Annandale, Va.; three stepdaughters, Nora Reel, Dorcas, Mrs.Dora Cook, Upper Tract; Viola Schultz, Landover, Md.; four sisters, Mrs. Janie Whetzel, Purgitsville; Mrs. Nina Helmick, Upper Tract; Mrs. Margie Davis, here; Mrs. Rhoda Roy, Durgon; 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Rosa B. Heavner, 84, of Maysville, died at Grant Memorial Hospital on Friday, October 4, 1985

Born in Grant County November 10, 1900, she was the daughter of the late John Christian Goldizen and Anna (Riggleman) Goldizen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Isaac Heavner on Sept. 7,1975; one son, four brothers, seven sisters, three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Surviving are two sons, Rosco Heavner, Scherr and Leo Heavner, Sardis, Ohio; three daughters, Mary Carr and Cleta Goldizen, Maysville and Leatha Mongold, Woodbridge, Va.; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and three great-grat-grandchildren.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

Funeral services were held at the Jordan Run Union Church on Sunday. October 6 with the Rev. Paul Donaldson and the Rev. Greg Rotruck officiating. Interment was in the Riggleman Cemetery at Cabins.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Grant Memorial Hospital.

She was a daughter of the late Nimrod Thorn and Fanny R. (Borror) Thorn. A brother preceded her in death.

Mrs. Helmick was a member of the North Mill Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, John Helmick; three sons, Johnny Helmick, Petersburg, David Helmick, Upperville, Va., and Sgt. First Class Paul Helmick, Fort Stewart, Ga.; five daughters, Mrs. Maxine Myers and Mrs. Juanita Harter, both of Winchester, Va., Mrs. Shirley C. Crites, Rig, Mrs. Carolyn Crites and Miss Phyllis Helmick both of Petersburg; a sister, Mrs. Anne Rotruck, Burlington: two brothers, Rennie Thorn, of Dorcas and Glenn Thorn, Keyser, and six grandchildren.

Services will be conducted at the North Mill Creek Baptist Church today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. byRev. George Lockhart, Rev. Lynn Rohrbaugh and Rev. John Goldizen. Interment will be in the North Mill Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Elsie V. Helmick, 71, of Rough Run, died Friday in Grant Memorial Hospital.(she died Feb. 19, 1982)

Mrs. Helmick was a daughter of the late Eston Reel and Lena Riggleman Reel.

Surviving are her husband, Glenn C. Helmick; three daughters, Mrs. Cleta Helmick and Mrs. Arleta Fields, both of Rough Run; and Mrs. Dorothy Phillips, Martinsburg; two sisters, Leota Markwood, Shady Spring and Nelleta Markwood, Baltimore, Md.; four brothers, Claude Reel, Petersburg, David Reel, Rig, Glenn Reel and Darl Reel, both of Dorcas; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One son preceded her in death.

Mrs. Helmick was a member of the Rough Run Church of the Brethren.

Services were conducted in Rough Run Church of the Brethren Monday afternoon by the Rev. Floyd Dove. Interment was in the Lahmansville Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Schaeffer Funeral Home.

Harold Glenn Hinkle,73, of Moorefield died Thursday evening, February 26, 1987, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Mr. Hinkle was born February 10, 1914, in Grant County and was a son of the late Newton and Emma Ours Hinkle.

Surviving are his wife, Marietta Rumer Hinkle; two sons, Roger L. Hinkle of Great Falls, Va.; and Paul A. Hinkle of Springfield, Va.; a daughter, Eleanor Brantley of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Otha M. Hinkle of Petersburg; and three grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted Sunday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg by the Rev. Laurean R. Smith. Burial was in the Critestown Cemetery near Rig.

The family said memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Born in Grant County Aug. 10, 1919, she was a daughter of Mary (Groves) Rexrode Briley, Maysville, and the late Walter Rexrode.

Mrs. Hedrick was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Also surviving are her husband, Guy E. Hedrick; two sons, Reginald Hedrick, Winchester, Va.; and Dwight Hedrick, Maysville; two daughters, Mrs. Sandy Nelson, Cabins, and Mrs. Yvonne Gabel, Moorefield; three sisters, Mrs. Beulah Sherman, Moorefield; Mrs. Dorothy Kuhn, Baltimore, Md.; and Mrs. Lee Anna Chuck, Spring City, Pa.; two brothers, John Rexrode and Eston Rexrode, both of Maysville; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Friends will be received at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, Wednesday and Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Friday at 2 p.m. by Pastor Ken Smith and Mrs. Hedrick's son, Pastor Reginald Hedrick.

Interment will be in Maysville Cemetery.

Peggy Ann Frye Halterman, 69, of Bridgewater, formerly of Baker, W.Va., died Monday, July 31, 2000, in Bridgewater Nursing Home.

Mrs. Halterman was born Feb. 26, 1931, in Wardensville, W.Va., the daughter of William M. and Hilda Heishman Frye. She was a school teacher.

She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Wardensville, and an associate member of New Dale Church of the Brethren, Baker, W.Va.

She was married to Arthur Casper Halterman.

Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Beverly "Pixie" Taylor of Charlottesville, Deborah Diane Vance of Broadway, and Andrea "Ande" Zeinalpour of Dallas; a son, Arthur W. Halterman of Baker; three brothers, Benjamin Frye and Robert Frye, both of Wardensville, and Kenneth Frye of Woodstock; a sister, Roberta Cappiello of Boston; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

An infant son is deceased.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Pine Grove United Methodist Church, Baker, with the Rev. Ernest Halterman officiating.

Arthur Casper Halterman, 70, of Route 1, Box 180, Baker, W.Va., died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, in Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg, W.Va.

Mr. Halterman was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Harrisonburg, the son of Arthur Ransom and Maude Gretchen Harlow Halterman.

He was a retired farmer and a member of New Dale Church of the Brethren in Baker.

He was married to Peggy Ann Frye, who died July 31, 2000.

Surviving are three daughters, Beverly "Pixie" Taylor of Charlottesville, Deborah Diane Vance of Broadway, and Andrea "Ande" Zeinalpour of Dallas; a son, Arthur W. Halterman of Baker; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Another son is deceased.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Pine Grove Methodist Church, Baker, with Pastor Arland Schrock officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McKee Funeral Home, Baker.

Carl D. Hawk, 37, of Thomson, Md., formerly of Mount Storm, died Friday, Oct. 15, as the result of an automobile accident near Thomson.

Born Sept. 9, 1967, he was the son of DeWayne and Rebecca Hawk, Mount Storm.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Penny Hawk; six children; one brother; and two sisters.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at Beggs Funeral Home, Thomson. Interment was in Thomson. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 24, 2pm at the Locust Grove Church of the Brethren, Mount Storm, with the Rev. John Walker officiating.

Mrs. Myrtie M. Hinkle, 95, of Riverston, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1992, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Born Jan. 17, 1896, in Randolph County, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Savannah (Cunningham) Bodkin.

Her first husband, Frank Hinkle, died in 1916. She then married Benjamin Hinkle, who died July 24, 1964.

She was a Methodist and a homemaker.

Surviving are one foster son, Charles Hinkle of Silver Spring, Md.; one daughter-in-law, Avanell Hinkle of Riverton, with whom she had lived; two sisters, Vistie Sponaugle of Hendricks and Gracie Channels of Valley Head; one brother, Baxter Bodkin of Norton; two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

Funeral services were conducted Friday at North Fork Baptist Church in Riverton with the Rev. Mike Watson officiating. Interment was in the Hinkle family cemetery at Riverton.

Arthur D. Kitzmiller, 86, of Dry Fork, and formerly of Oakland, died Tuesday, April 26, 1994, at the Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas.

Born Sept. 27, 1907, at Schell, he was the son of the late Clarence and Ophelia (Harvey) Kitzmiller. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel D. (Johnson) Kitzmiller in 1981; one son, Harland Kitzmiller; and one grandson, Eugene Kitzmiller.

Mr. Kitzmiller was a retired orderly having worked at the John E. Runnels Hospital, Scotch Plain, NJ.

He is survived by three sons, Darrell Kitzmiller, Mt. Lake Park, Md., Curtis Kitzmiller, Knoxville, Tenn., and Gerald Kitzmiller, Swanton, Md.; two daughters, Doris Barnard, Dry Fork, and Gladys Munday, Stafford, Va.; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday morning at the Stewart Funeral Home, Oakland, with the Rev. Marty Herron officiating. Interment was in White Church Cemetery.

Harold C. Hanlin, 55, formerly of Petersburg, died Monday in the VA Hospital, Walla Walla, WA.

Born at Shallmar, he was the son of the late Lyle and Edna (Rotruck) Crawford.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Evelyn V. Shirk, Moorefield; one half-brother, William Crawford, here and several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted Monday in the Fraley Funeral Home, Moorefield. The Rev. Laurean R. Smith officiated. Interment was in Queen�s Point Cemetery, Keyser.

Donnie Frederick Hesse, 79, of Maysville, died Monday, February 16, 1998, at his home.

Born February 21, 1918, in Maysville, he was the son of the late Albert F. and Angie (Smith) Hesse. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John C. Hesse and Sampson J. Hesse and two sisters, Tillie M. Judy and Susan Stonestreet.

Mr. Hesse was a lifetime farmer, retired from Westvaco and was a past caretaker for Stoney River Dam. He was a member of Davis Baptist Church on Jordan Run Road, Maysville. He graduated from St. John�s Academy and attended Catherman�s Business School, Cumberland, MD.

He is survived by one sister, Catherine Hanlin, of Scherr; special friend, Flora Kessel of Keyser; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Thursday morning, at Davis Baptist Church, with the Revs. Paul Donaldson and Paul Dye officiating Interment was in the Smith Family Cemetery, Maysville.

Mabel F. Hesse � paper Sept 13, 1994
Mabel F. Hesse, 93, of Keyser, died Sunday, September 11, 1994, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born December 10, 1900, at Scherr, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Rachel (Hanlin) Secrist. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Hesse October 29, 1962; one son Hobart W. Hesse; three brothers; one sister; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Hesse, along with her late husband, was the owner and operator of the Hesse Green House for over 60 years. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Mineral County Senior Citizens and the New Creek Homemakers for 45 years, where she was currently serving as treasurer. She was selected Mineral County Belle in 1988.

Surviving are one son, Harold E. Hesse, of Keyser; one daughter, Eleanor Corley of Keyser; one sister, Virginia Muntzing of Scherr; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9pm.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald D. Coleman and Pastor Lloyd E. Heatwole officiating.

Interment will be in the Idleman Cemetery, Scherr.

Mrs. April Regina (Thorne) Hicks, 49, of Burke, VA and formerly of Petersburg, died Friday, April 17, 1992, at Arlington Hospital, Arlington, VA.

Born September 22, 1942, in Petersburg, she was the daughter of Conway C. and Helen R. (Berry) Thorne of Falls Church, VA.

Mrs. Hicks was employed at the Annadale Surplus, Annadale, VA and was a member of Capital Baptist Church, Falls Church.

Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband, Stephen G. Hicks; two sons, James Tavenner and John Tavenner at home; three stepsons, David Tavenner of Front Royal, VA and Arthur Tavenner and Allen Tavenner of North Carolina; one daughter, Tammy Oliver, Falls Church; one step-daughter, Muriel Jean of North Carolina; two brothers, George Thorne, Columbia, MD and Timothy Dean Thorne, Falls Church; five grandchildren and two step- grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday afternoon at Colonial Funeral Home, Falls Church, with the Rev. Sam Payne Officiating Interment was in National Memorial Park Cemetery.

John Ray Hinkle � paper Nov 24, 1992
John Ray Hinkle, 87, of Dayton, VA, died Saturday, November 14, 1992, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA, where he had been a patient for six weeks. He had been in failing health for four and a half years.

Born November 18, 1904, in Grant County, he was the son of the late Daniel Webster and Sarah Miller Hinkle. He was the last surviving member of his family and was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and one daughter, Page.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Nellie Mauzy, of Frederick County, VA, whom he married April 1, 1933; one daughter, Sarah Hinkle Warner, Fairfax, VA; one son, John David Hinkle, Fairfax; and four grandchildren.

A graduate of St. John�s Academy and a 1933 graduate of Bridgewater College, he attended Potomac State College, Shenandoah College, Madison College, Shepherd College and York College, York, Neb. And the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque. He had done further graduate and seminary work.

While in the West, he served as missionary to the Indians at Jemez Pueblo, NM, for the Presbyterian Church and served pastorates in Nebraska and Colorado for the United Brethren in Christ.

A well-known minister, teacher and businessman, he served pastorates for the United Brethren in Christ at Mt. Zion, in Augusta County, the West Frederick Charge in Frederick County, Great Cacapon Charge, Berkeley County and the Riverton charge, Pendleton County. After leaving the pastoral ministry, he and his wife traveled for seven years in undenominational evangelistic ministry.

After locating in Dayton, he continued to be sought after to have revival meetings, serve as guest minister and to officiate at weddings and funerals. He was a gospel minister for more than 65 years. He and his wife were also accomplished musicians.

He taught school for five years in Grant County, Morgan County, Circleville High School in Pendleton County and Dayton High School.

He and his wife operated Hinkle�s Card Shop in Dayton for several years before he began an advertising specialty firm, John Ray Hinkle C.A. Service, which operated for about 20 years. After selling the firm, he continued as a salesman for Geiger Brothers, Lewiston, Maine, for more than 20 years, working actively until April 1991. He had lived in Dayton since 1942.

He was known worldwide as the publisher of the �Our Bible Series,� 12 tittles of Bible Verse Booklets of which more than 20 million were published, not only in English, but also in Spanish and Japanese.

Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Daniel B. Suter, assisted by the Rev. Douglas M. Wade, at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral chapel. Interment was in the Dayton Cemetery. Interment was in the Dayton Cemetery.
