| Last Will And Testament John Kimble 1797-12/22/1863 Hardy County , Virginia November 20, 1999 Carol Ann Bond Smith has transcribed the following text. The transcribed document is the will of John Kimble as found in the Grant County, West Virginia Courthouse located in Petersburg, West Virginia. It is not the original document but the official copy of record. The transcription was made from the microfilmed copy found in the West Virginia State Archives located in the Cultural Center Building at the State Capitol Complex in Charleston, West Virginia. No guarantees are made as to the absolute accuracy of the wording as the copy is very hard to read. The spelling and punctuation are, as they appear to be in the copy. In the name of God, Amen. I, John Kimble of the County of Hardy and State of Virginia being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make, ordain publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament that is to say, first, after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged. I will and bequeath to my son William Wesley three hundred dollars in cash provided he, the said William Wesley shall remain with and take care of me and his mother untill our decease also I will that he, the said William Wesley shall have out of my estate one good horse saddle and bridle one good bed with three coverlets 2nd I will and bequeath that my wife Hannah, provided she outlives me shall have all my household and kitchen furniture during her natural life. 3rd I will that after the foregoing part of this will is complied with, all the remainder of my personal property shall be sold at public sale and the proceeds equally divided among all my heirs not above mentioned. 4th I will that my son William Wesley shall have after my decease all my real Estate during the lifetime of his mother to be sold at public sale and provided she outlives me for the mentainance of her his said mother during her natural life and at her death all the said real estate d the proceeds equally divided among all my heirs. Likewise I make, constitute and appoint my two sons John and Alfred to be Executors of this my last will and testament. Kimble; great, great, grandson of John Kimble on December 7, 1999 John Kimble was shot to death on the front porch of his home on December 22, 1863 by a member/members of McNeill�s Rangers. This southern ranger group is the same group that made the raid into Smokehole in 1864 and is described in �Twixt North and South� by H. M. Calhoun. Explanatory Notes by Carol Ann Bond Smith 1. In 1858, Hardy County, Virginia encompassed much more territory than it does today. 2. The current county seat is Moorefield, West Virginia. 3. Present day Grant County, West Virginia was formed from Hardy County, West Virginia in 1866. 4. Petersburg, West Virginia is the current county seat. 5. Since this will was written in 1858, the county of residence was Hardy County, Virginia. 6. Since this will was recorded in 1866, it appears that the place of residence was located in the newly formed Grant County, West Virginia. Living Sources of Information Ralph W. We are all descendants of John (Johannes) Kimmel, Sr., his son John Kimmel, Jr., and his son Adam Kimmel/Kimble. Adam, in addition to other children, had two sons, John Kimmel/Kimble and James Kimmel/Kimble. This is where the branches split. John Kimmel/Kimble married Hannah Cunningham in 1820. His son, Nicholas Kimmel/Kimble married Susan Shreve in 1857 in Hardy County, VA. In 1866 they moved to Muncie, IN. Arthur O. Kimble, son of Nicholas, married Nellie Drinkwater in 1906. William W. Kimble, son of Arthur, married Laura G. Hill in 1938. Ralph W. Kimble is the son of William W. Kimble. James Kimmel/Kimble married Jane Porter in 1830. They had many children, one of whom was named Jacob Markwood Kimmel/Kimble. Jacob Markwood Kimmel/Kimble married Sarah (C. or K.) Tingler. Adam Harrison Kimmel/Kimble, one of the nine children of Jacob Markwood Kimmel/Kimble, married Ethel Clark (1st marriage) and Louvine Stuby (2nd marriage). Adam Harrison Kimmel/Kimble�s daughter is LaVera Kimble Ours. Rev. Randall Ours is the son of LaVera Kimble Ours. A daughter of Jacob Markwood Kimmel/Kimble was Cora Susan Kimble. Cora Susan Kimble married Edwin Flournoy Bond. They had five children. Albert Flournoy Bond was the first child. Carol Ann Bond Smith is the daughter of Albert Flournoy Bond. Additional Genealogical Information John S. Bond, father of Edwin Flournoy Bond, grandfather of Albert Flournoy Bond and great grandfather of Carol Ann Bond Smith was a witness to this Will of John Kimble.
