Geo. F. Cunningham and Thompson Vanmeter, of Pinto, Md., were here Saturday and Sunday.

Mr. Jos. L. Stayman and Miss Gamble, of Moorefield, called on friends here Saturday evening.

President McKinley last week appointed Daniel Mayer, of this State, consul at Buenos Ayres, Argentine Republic.

The funeral of A.V. Bond was preached Sunday at the Upper Tract M.E. Church, by Rev. C.M.M. Fultz.

Jake Martin, who has been employed on the Hampshire Review at Romney returned to his old home here Sunday, where he will attend school this winter.

Rev. A.G.B. Powers went to Hampshire county Saturday where expected to assist Rev. W.C. Garland in a meeting at Timber Ridge Church. From there he will go to Virginia, where he will also assist in some meetings.

We learn through a friend that M.S. Cornwell, of Romney, started a few days ago for El Paso, Texas, where he will spend some time. He goes there in search of a climate more conducive to his health, and his many friends here join in the hope that he may find it as desired.

From present indications the criminal docket of the county will be a large one. In all probability we will have two murder trials, viz: R.W. Eastham for the killing of Frank E. Thompson, and the Pitzer Bros. for the killing of Rev. H.H. Burgoyne. Court will commence on the 19th.

Noah Mongold, of Dorcas, is seriously ill of pulmonic consumption.

Mrs. Clay Johnson, of Franklin, is the guest of Mrs. J.N. McMullan of our town.

Atto. J.N. McMullan went to Grafton this week, where he will sit as special judge in a case before the Court there.

Dan Ours has removed with his family from Brushy Run to this place again. He has taken a drink from the �Pond Spring.�

Lew Moran and Dick Hartman, of Keyser, finished the plastering on the Moomau dwelling last week, and it is certainly a first-class job.

Tyler county boasts of a new jail that cost $25,000. Some of the counties in West Virginia can afford criminals enough to fill them up no difference how large or fine.

Most of our farmers are smiling, and why not? They have sold their cattle at a good price; wheat is up in the figures and the crop abundant, and pork is starting off away up.

Mr. J.T. Ebert, of Laurel Dale, writes us to send the Press to his address at Baltimore, Md., where he has gone to take a commercial course in the Bryant and Stratton College. Our best wishes ware with him.

Deputy Sheriff Schell was here last week.

Dr. Kenedy has left here and located somewhere down the line.

Deputy Sheriff Donovan went to Petersburg Monday.

Atto. F.C. Reynolds, of Keyser, was here last week.

Mt. Storm Letter

Nov 9 � E.G. Vossler sold all his real estate, including farm, two dwelling houses and one store house, to Mr. D.W. Idleman. The store goods were also purchased by him, but a partner being desired in the store. J.H. Schaeffer bought a one-half interest. Invoicing will take place within Thanksgiving week, after which the business will be conducted in the firm name of �Idleman & Schaeffer.�

We are sorry to lose Mr. Vossler from our community, as we need many such families in our vicinity to build up society. Mr. Vossler will move to Maysville where he will occupy the �Grant House� which he purchased of C.H. Vossler. We wish him abundant success wherever he may be found.

The will of A.M. Ours, deceased, was admitted to record Tuesday, and an inventory of his stock of goods at Hopeville is being taken.

John V. Switzer, Dentist, will arrive here some time next week, and remain one week only. Watch for his arrival, if you need any dental work.

The personal property of Ijah Sites, deceased, at Pansy, was sold at public auction Wednesday, most everything bringing a good round price.

Atto. E.L. Judy has authorized us to say that during his term of school at Medley he will be found in his office at Maysville on Saturday of each week.

Judge Daily remanded Charles V. Stains, who was given a hearing before him at Franklin Friday in habeas corpus proceedings, to jail, and took time to consider the case.

Married, in the M.E. Church at Hartmansville, Oct 31, by Rev. L. Walter Lutz, assisted by Rev. V.G. Smith, Mr. Wm. L. Davy, of Maysville, and Miss Elsie R. Michael, of Claysville, W.Va.

Mr. Abe Feaster, of Seymoursville, lost a small child last Thursday. It had been sick for some time. The funeral took place on Saturday morning at Mt. Hebron U.B. Church, Rev. L. Walter Lutz officiating.

Lahmansville Locals

Mrs. Sarah Hull was taken seriously ill Friday night and Dr. Scott was phoned to come to her bedside at once. He pronounced it neuralgia of the brain, instead of paralysis as indicted by symptoms.

Re. Lutz is conducting a protracted meeting at Mt. Carmel.

Charles Vance, who came home from Keyser, recently, on account of fever, is about well again.

Mr. Williams, of Ohio, has been in this section buying hogs and horses.

On last Friday night Geo. Ray was arrested near Noah Snyder�s by Deputy Sheriff Schell and Bert Stallings, on a warrant sworn out by Joseph Ruble, of Medley. There were three charges in the warrant. One for carrying two revolvers, one for running the team he was driving, and another for using profane language in the postoffice. A hearing was given him before Justice Schell, who sent him to jail, the proper place for such characters.
