I'm Sorry, I'm Leaving.
Chapter 1
By: Sarah

Cicily Spin stared blankly at her car. She groaned and pushed her blond hair from her eyes, cursing under her breath. It was warm outside, but not warm enough to be considered hot. She glanced at her watch, knowing she was going to be late for her date. Her boyfriend, Simon, was going to be mad that she was even a few minutes late.

I dont mean to beannoyingbut how long is this going to take? She said, glancing at the overweight, slightly balding man in front of her. He scratched his head and then glared at her. His dark eyes skimmed her body, moving up and down slowly. Cicily shifted her weight, uncomfortable under his leering eyes.

Look, I dont know. Your cars pretty messed upyou should be happy were even taking it today. He said shortly, finally looking away. Cicily nodded. She hated mechanics. They always talked to her like she was stupid just because she was a girl. She wrapped her arms around herself and glanced around the garage.

Im sorry, I just wanted to know an estimate. She said. He groaned and rubbed his hands through his thin hair.

LISTEN He started to shout before he was cut off.

Hey, George, what are you doing? A voice from behind Cicily said. She turned around, hoping that it was someone with half a brain that she could talk to. A guy only a year or two older than her walked up to them. Cicily smiled, feeling slightly relieved. He gave her a thoughtful, warm smile as he walked over, wiping his hands on a towel. Cicily couldnt help but notice how gorgeous he was. Short, dark brown hair and clear, friendly brown eyes adorned a strong, yet sweet face. He wiped his slightly dirty hands on his pants and then reached out and offered it to Cicily. She shook it and smiled

Hey, take a break, George. He said to the older man. George grumbled something, but walked away with little resistance. The guy looked back at Cicily and smiled softly. Im sorry he was so rude. He said, his voice surprisingly soft. Cicily shrugged, overwhelmed by the man standing in front of her.

Its ok. She managed to say. He smiled again.

Im Joel, and you are He looked at the papers sitting on the hood of her car. Ms. Spin. He said. Cicily nodded.

Cicily. She said. He glanced up from the paper for a second and smiled.

 Great name.

 Thanks. She said quietly.

Crash? He asked. Cicily frowned, confused. Did you get in a crash? He clarified. She nodded.

Yea, some guy smashed into me. She said.

Isnt he lucky. Joel said. Cicily couldnt help but blush and Joel looked up and smiled again. It shouldnt take too longId say a week, a week and a half max. He said. Cicily was surprised. Shed been told it would take a couple weeks.

Really? I was told it would take a couple weeks She said. He shrugged, looking back at the papers again. He thumbed through them for a second before shaking his head.

Nah, Ill make sure you get it in a week. He said. She blushed again. He looked away but kept smiling.

Wellthank you. She said. He nodded.

Its my pleasure. He said. Cicily smiled.

I haveto get going. But Ill be by in a few days to see how things are going. She said. She suddenly realized she didnt want to leave. Lunch with Simon didnt seem so appetizing anymore.

Oh, well, heres my card. Im here most of the time, but my cell phone number is on the back in case of an emergency. Just ask for me when you come back, ok? He asked. Cicily nodded, reaching forward for the card. Their fingers brushed each other as she took the card and Cicily couldnt help but notice the way her skin tingled.

OkIll just ask for you then. She said, looking down at the slightly worn card. Joel Madin.

Ok, that sounds good. Joel nodded. Cicily swallowed hard, looking up and catching his eye. Neither of them said anything for a minute. They just stood there, as if they were frozen in place, their eyes locked on each other.

Joel! Do you know anything about the order for that Toyota? A voice across the garage shouted. Joel swallowed, but didnt look away from Cicily.

No, I dont! He yelled back, without breaking his gaze from Cicilys. Cicily smiled and bit her lip, not realizing she was fiddling with the sleeve of her shirt. She finally looked away, but still felt his eyes on her.

Ill see you. Cicily said quickly. Joel smiled and nodded. She walked away and secretly hoped that she definitely would see him again.
