| LONGWIRE ANTENNA UPDATE FROM GCC ENGINEERING | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| This longwire antenna was built by me in the summer of 2006 and also receives over 1000's of shortwave stations depending on solar activity and conditions. Its can receive real weak signals from other parts of the world on LW and covers 150 kHz to 30 MHz. Soon there will be a discone antenna and other useful antennas and even loops. If you want to know that if the longwire antenna picks up VLF it does for radio science work only. The gallery page will be up soon. |

| OUR METEOROLOGY STATION IS OUT OF SERVICE BUT THE WIRE IS NOW A LONGWAVE WIRE ANTENNA! |

| The weather station was working around since 2005 and then Tropical Storm Ernesto took a bite off of it and left me with only the anmometer and brought alot of flooding with it also. Now the wind direction sensors unshielded cable makes a really great addition as a longwave longwire antenna for picking up stations from France, Germany, and other LW broadcasts and signals and also greatly enhanced AM reception. |

| A SERIOUS DX TUNERS SET UP FOR RADIO SCIENCES and FM/AM/LW/SHORTWAVE LISTENING IN THE GCC THIS 2006. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have collected over lots used equipment just for serious FM/AM and shortwave DXing. There are lots of tuners and receivers and a cassette deck in this setup, soon there will be a MDS-JE480 minidisc deck setup and also I could still use the equipment connected to the computer. Models here are Star Roamer on top, KT-45,(modified ceramic 150 kHz filters),ST-JX521, TD-W405, RX701V, S-7250 with modified ceramic FM filters, TX-9500 DX Tuner the first one before the TX-9500II came out. These tunere are connected to rabbit ears and soon a outdoor antenna and uses a Terk AM Loop Antenna. Sorry none of its for sale! Its based somewhere in the GCCs DX listening room. See! I told you we had equipment Brands, Sherwood, Pioneer, JVC, Sony, and Kenwood early 1970's, 80's and 90's equipment. The late 90's to 2000's stuff is not good for DXing! I have been there and done that in 10 years. OLD DX TUNERS ARE THE WAY TO GO!! In radio science observing you got ot have good DX tuning equipment even when you need better sensivitity to reach those double hop E's this 2010! Soon this setup will have HD radio DX tuners soon as possible. |

| MY SHORTWAVE RADIOS THAT I USE FOR SOME RADIO SCIENCE OBSERVING |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Here are some set of shortwave radios that I use for FM/AM/LW DXing such as the DX-390 (DISCONTINUED USING), DX-392 and VHF/TV/FM mulitband portable radio. The DX-392 can be used for many uses in radio science observing such as recording propagated LW/AM/FM signals or also adding a VLF converter and taping the VLF signals is a good observation you can do with it. I use it for general SWL and Longwave DXing on my days off and weekends. Also I use loop ferrite antennas like this one for longwave DXing it covers from 130 kHz to 550 kHz. with my longwire antenna it pulls in signals fairly well with out the longwire antenna. My plan is to make a longer length rod to gain more signal. these antennas can be made here at this Yahoo group I do recommend for starters to experts of all ages. |
