GCC RADIO EQUIPMENT USERS REVIEW ETON AND GRUNDIG S350 DL
This Radio has been used in the GCC since Dec 2006 its been a great addition to the listening post.  I now have a second one which really replaced the first one.
This radio has been a great addition to the listening post for general radio listening.  I have not heard any pirate radio stations on 6955 and 6925 on this radio yet.  But I am waiting to tune them in with this radio with a wire antenna.   This radio is good for general  everyday broadcast listening and if you need to copy SSB signals you will need to couple a BFO circuit next to the radio like the Ten Tec BFO kit which is fun to build.  The radio however is good at AM distant station listening also i has narrow and wide controls, and tunes from :

Frequency Coverage         BAND          PROPAGATION BEST
518 kHz to 1750 kHz     MW       USE DAY/NIGHT(DX)

IMPROVING AM/SW RECEPTION WITH THE TERMINALS ON THE BACK OF THE RADIO
The radio requires a 500 ohm antenna connection.  So what do you do if you don't have a 500 ohm antenna? The problem is that the radio seems to overload at night when the 41 meter to 90 meter bands are active so at night I use this type of connection for my radio to reduce overloading.  There are other attenuator circuits since this is simple this will be in the public
domain as is.  This requires a 10K or 100 K potentiometer  to
overcome the overload image problem.   Connect the longwire
antenna from indoors or out using the 1 st terminal of the
potentiometer solder it.  Then use the middle part of the potentiometer if still overloads use a series resistor that would be suitable.   Use the 3 rd part of the potentiometer for the ground connection then connect this connection to ground.  GCC is not responsible for any damages.   The circuit is used as  for experimentation only.  Please use lightning protection for as any other installation will say.  Grounding is a must for better
reception.   Overloading can be cured with the MFJ-956

Since its 300 ohms you might consider using good 300 ohm cable to connect this antenna for improved AM reception.  You can open it up and add more turns for to
meet 500 ohm impedance.

Set To SW Band        Set To FM Band
   Set To AM (MW) Band
ABOVE ALL THIS AND CONS
This radio is a good radio, but the problem is that one thing is missing is the LW bands.  The GCC likes to have radios with LW since most broadcasts are Europe, Asia and Africa.  If this radio had LW
it would indeed outperform my DX 398 cause its a great radio for AM (MW DXing.  FM DXing is great on this radio as well and Shortwave well, needs RF engineering improvement to reduce overload & RFI
