Lets have a look inside a DX-398  ok?
NOTE: These pictures are for educational purposes only  Thanks.
This is the front panel part without the cover which  shows the 2 orange trimmers, the keypad and also other parts like the LCD display and other stuff not to be messed around with but the pots but there is a website for that will help you align them As
you see on the left upperside there are some RF coils there.  .
Here is a picture that I took with the webcam of my DX-398.  You
can various solder joints and surface mount parts that make this
radio work..  Also the RF transistors are located on the board for
proper operation.  You also see shields in certian parts of the board
that are forebidden to be modified in anyway or the radio will not
work properly .   There is also some websites out there about
radio modifications.  but please understand we are not  responsible for modications on your radio.  This is for educational purposes only!
Ah yes its something we should all know about when taking a
radio apart.   As you see here is the ferrite coil that brings in those
DX LW and MW stations.  Now you may notice the black tape thats just the support tape to keep it in.  The coil however is 2 inches
in length which covers 153 to 1710 kHz all in one coil.  Since the
radio uses 1 circuit to receive continous coverage.   You can
use loop antennas with this coil for AM such as the terk or select
a tenna for great DX reception.
It's time to put it back together now.
OK since the flipstand broke,  I needed something
to remind me that this radio is on its way out, and also I need to get a new one soon.  So I labeled it
"This radio receiver is old, so please take care it
Carefully!   GCC Engineering.   Still the radio works
well but still old to use.  .
This radio is a great little radio for intermediate SWL's and HAM across the world.  Its also a great
FM DXer's receiver with RDS which many others
don't have so if you have RDS you're very lucky
to be in the RDS listeners family of radio listeners
from all over the world.   Has LW too which works
well and super on MW and SW.
Guess what?  Its me DXing in a nice confy bed with a
WRTH and a TERK AM loop antenna with the DX-398
listening to the latest news from over 200 miles away
in Virginia Beach VA, as well as Radio Christina Intl
and other great SW and LW radio stations from over
the world.           73  for now    Great DX!
