Greenleaf Meeting minutes 1/15/06 

-New volunteers sign up for training!!

-Old volunteers sign up for hours!!!!

-Need volunteers for accounting….getting quick books!

-Milk pitchers; milk was getting stuck in tops and going off….will not be used until either someone can get the tops back on (thanks, Steve:) or they are replaced.

-T-shirts!!! Ariana will silk screen Greenleaf shirts if we give her a design. 

      How much would they cost to make? 

      Aprons or cups to sell?

-Earth day celebration (evergreen club) mug contest; will donate mugs to Greenleaf!!!

-Workstudy:

      preference for people who volunteered/worked last semester

      problem with paying people who do not do much (cleaning schedule should help)

      workstudy for non-counter jobs? Accountant? (tabled) 

      workstudy only for shiftleaders? (making the exception for workstudy students from last semester that wish to continue…but no new people) (tabled)

-Veggie Coop;

      request for greenleaf as a money collection spot with cash box behind counter

      also want sign-up sheet for volunteers and possibly a info flyer to be distributed by the person working the counter. 

      Concern raised about the two coops slowly merging or too much of the Veggie coop’s tasks being put on greenleaf members. 

      Consensus; we will collect money and distribute info/sign-up sheet as long as all materials are provided.

-Yahoo space; 

      to sign up….need yahoo account (email works). Go onto yahoo group and search for ‘The GCCA’ and sign up as a member.

      These instructions will also be sent out on the listserve (Mary Nevin volunteers) 

-Committees; 

      need people to help!

      Chelsea volunteers to be on purchasing

      Need promotions/events committee! Faith volunteers to be contact person (chair)! Her email will be sent out for anyone else interested.

-advisor; 

      we need one! Can be any professor (must be faculty, perhaps staff). 

      Have a favorite? Ask them! Many busy, …try to think of someone that would be good for the position. 

      the professor of Non-profit management (Chabatar) has been asked and we’re waiting for a reply 

      Other professors from the business department should be asked as well.

      The advisor has authority through their influence on the administration, though that may not be significant.

      Jane Redmont is suggested, Anya volunteers to ask her. 

      Anyone can ask professors, and we want more than one.

-incorporate?;

      we are considering becoming a non-profit coop in the eyes of the law.

      This could be with the GCCA, but more likely as an independent coop.

      All are invited to GCCA meetings if interested in the whole process! Or can find out more by emailing the GCCA (gcca@guilford.edu).

-Logo;

      contest suggested….one occurred in the past through less than legitimate means.

      Publicity committee will look at old entries 

      Should we still give $50 prize that was offered? Um…No. but perhaps something should be give to winner if taken from these old entries. 

-Frequent buyer cards;

      consensus: not for members

      evaluate loss; keep cards that are filled, put them in inventory slot 

      guilfordian will be giving away $5 gift certificates…how should this be done? List of people? Paper gift certificates?

      There is no limit on the type of drink that can be bought with filled card, but don’t be silly about it.

-Guilfordian column;

      Bryan….weekly column suggested, something is needed by Wednesday or end of week.
