Straight Edge
Straight edge is a philosophy - a religion, if you want to call it that. It's my religion; one that I share with others around the world. Straight edge promotes a drug free lifestyle.
Straight edge developed as an offshoot of the punk rock/hardcore scene in the early 1980's. The term "Straight Edge" was coined by Ian Mackaye, lead singer of the hardcore band, Minor Threat. Mackaye himself was bound to the tendencies of this straight edge lifestyle. Instead of promoting drugs and violence, he began to promote the simple philosophy of "Don't Drink/ Don't Smoke/ Don't Fuck" Straight edgers adopt the sXe docrine to first better themselves, and then the world they live in. While the original definition only included the rejection of mind-altering substances and promiscuous sex, modern styles have come to include vegetarianism and involvment in environmental and political issues.

Why I'm sXe
There are alot of reasons for why I'm sXe. I've seen what drugs can do to people. My grandpa was diagnosed with lung cancer last year. He had smoked since he was a teen. I took a vow then that the same thing would never happen to me. I've read horror stories and seen those people, all drugged up. I simply don't want to be one of them. I never used to tell anyone or consider myself sXe until I met this guy. Not naming names, the guy knows who he is though, I'm sure of that. He opened my eyes to the sXe lifestyle and was proud of his lifestyle. Since then, I've considered myself sXe and have shown my morals to other people.
