it's quite disheartening that not a lot is known about the Philippine islands prior to colonial rule. Because of this, the heritage of great sea chieftains and barangay kingdoms become marred by the misconceptions created by early colonial writers hence not giving credence to the cultural significance of this country's pre-history, nor any other country outside of the western hemishpere for that matter. In fact, the pre-Spanish Philippine culture can rival that of early Balinese, Chinese and even Muslim civilizations.
