Who I am Inside
Kaoru
was figuring out where she went wrong. She sat on the porch of he dojo as she
looked at herself in the puddle of water nearby.
"Am I really..?" she asked herself . She looked at the water and her
tears started to go down from her eyes.
LOOK AT ME, I WILL NEVER PASS FOR
A PERFECT BRIDE
Kenshin looked at her. "Kaoru? Are you all right?" he asked
uncertainly as he looked at her.
"Uh, hai," she answered. "Of course I am. What's wrong?" she
asked.
"Nothing."
"Kaoru? What's bothering you now?" asked Yahiko, coming over. He was
about thirteen by then. He was holding up one-year-old Kenji to her. "My
time baby sitting this kid. May I go now?" he asked irritably.
"Gomen," replied Kaoru. "Uh..nothing's wrong. Go if you
want," she said, taking her son.
"Boo boo!" gurgled Kenji.
OR A PERFECT DAUGHTER
She looked at her son and smiled. "You're the cutest little boy I've
seen."
Yahiko frowned. "Yea, right. Kaoru, what's bothering you?" he asked.
"Nothing." She looked p at the sky.
Flashback
"Mommy! Mommy!" screamed three-year-old Kaoru. "Mommy!"
Her mother smiled at her. "You little troublemaker. What are you up to
now?" she asked.
"Nothing," she answered.
Her mother carried her into her arms. "Com'on let's go home."
Kaoru frowned. "NO!!!" she yelled.
"Kaoru-chan, we have to," said her mother.
"NO!!!" she yelled again.
"But Kaoru."
"NO!!!"
They went home late that day. Her mother defended Kaoru why they were really late in going home.
"I got lost in the time. Don't worry about us," she told Kaoru's father.
But by then, she was coughing out badly. Kaoru looked from the back of the shoji door. Tears came down from her eyes. A day from that, her mother passed away.
Young
Kaoru sat on te porch when she found tears from her eyes. "It's my fauly. I
killed her," se said to herself.
Flashback End
CAN IT BE? I'M NOT MEANT TO PLAY
THIS PART
Kenji smiled at his mother. "Ka sa!" he said gleefully. Ka sa! Ka sa!"
His mother held him close. "You're right, Kenji," she whispered.
NOW I SEE, THAT IF I WERE TRULY
TO BE MYSELF
"Kenshin," Kaoru whispered. Kenshin looked at her with a smile.
"I."
"What?" asked Kenshin.
Kaoru shook her head. "Nothing..."
I WOULD BREAK MY FAMILY"S
HEART
WHO IS THAT GIRL I SEE? STARING
STRAIGHT, BACK AT ME
Kenji looked at his mother. "Ka sa! I wet my pants!" he exclaimed.
Kaoru slowly lifted him up. "Ok, let's go change."
While she was dressing her son, she looked at the mirror on the wall.
WHY IS MY RELFELCTION SOMEONE I
DON'T KNOW?
"Kaoru?" asked Kenshin from behind. Kaoru looked at him. Kenshin held
out a small rose. "For you."
Kaoru's frown slowly turned into a smile. "Arigato." But then, inside
she still felt uneasy.
Kenshin sensed it. "Want to go for a walk tonight?"
Kaoru agreed and they did. Kenji trailed along behind the two of them, adoring
the fireflies.
Kaoru saw herself on the water near by.
SOMEHOW I CANNOT HIDE, WHO I AM,
THOUGH I TRY
"Kenshin," she whispered. Kenshin looked at her thoughtfully. "Am
I missing something?" she asked.
"What do you mean?" asked Kenshin.
WHEN WILL MY REFLECTION SHOW WHO
I AM INSIDE?
"I mean, I'm supposed to be your wife, but..I'm..still.."
Kenshin smiled. "I don't care what you're thinking right now," he said
and held her close. "You're perfect."
Kaoru smiled as they both kissed. She looked at the waters again, this time
beaming.
"Nothing," she whispered. "You can't judge a book by its cover.
Neither can my reflection judge me."
WHEN WILL MY REFLECTION SHOW WHO
I AM INSIDE?
The End
