Kenshin.

(Soujiro remembers the times he had when he was a mere boy as he fought)
Soujiro, where in the world do you think you're going? You didn't even finish
taking the rice to the granary!" "Hai Hai," answered little
Soujiro as he continued to carry the rice on his back.
There's
nothing but the rain, no footsteps on the ground I'm listening but there's no
sound
"Soujiro, what do you think you're doing? Get out of that bed and
work!"
Isn't
anyone trying to find me Won't somebody come take me home
(Snaps back to the present)
"No one ever took me in when I was a boy because I was weak. The weak shall

It's a

Soujiro
gripped his sword. "I don't believe you. I never had a life to start

Shishio looked at him. "We don't know each other."
Soujiro
looked up with innocent eyes. "Please take me. I know I'd be a good lad. I
can't take my life any longer. Please Mister."

(Lands on his feet)
"I only had a life to live when I only had myself to depend on," he
said to Kenshin. "You never came. I needed someone, but you never
came!"
Coz
nothing's goin' right, and everything's a mess I know what it is like to be

(Loses to Kenshin in the battle)
"I can't lose," he cried and looked up. "I can't be this
weak." Kenshin looked at him. "No one says you're weak," he
reminded him. Soujiro looked at him. "Demo, I lost the battle," he
protested. Kenshin put his sword in the sheath. " Hai, you did. Demo.You
won over yourself, Seta Soujiro."
Why is
everythin' so confusing? Maybe I'll just start off my mind
"Won over myself? What do you mean?
Take

Kenshin smiled. "You won over the battle that is in your heart. You're free
of all of it, Soujiro. All of the hurt inside you," he explained.
"Hurt?" Soujiro repeated. Kenshin looked at him. "I know you feel
them through all of those smiles of yours. I can tell by the looks of your
eyes."
