Bogota', Colombia  April 2001
One of the housing districts that we visited.  Completely modern homes.  These were 3 or 4 bedroom homes. Inside one of those homes looking from the living room/ dining room area up to the balcony family room.  There is also a den. The homes accross the street from where we stayed  Again, very modern.  Most of the homes in Bogota have bars on the windows and around the yards.
Some of the traffic that is typical througout the city. You can see the construction on the left side of the road, and some of the street vendors on the right. Homecenter- just like a Home Depot in the states. Imagine a Wal Mart Superstore, throw in a larger grocery store, then make it bigger still.  Then add in a food court and some other stores in the entry area and you have Exito and CarrFour.
Inside Exito.  Looks just like a Wal Mart, except the prices are in Pesos.  Oh, that and there were only 85 checkout lanes here.  CarrFour was a bit smaller- they only had 67! A view of the produce area- well maybe 1/2 of it.  There is a ton of different fruits and vegetables in Colombia.  I like the mora berries- similar to a strong raspberry and it makes a wonderful juice or hot tea. The playground at Exito.  All of the larger stores have something like this, along with the malls, parks, and many other places.  It seemed like every time we turned around there was another playground.
