SOUTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC PARENTS ASSOCIATION GENERAL MEETING MINUTES January 9, 2004 OLD BUSINESS: Minutes were read and seconded with a few amendments to the minutes. No Treasurer's Report. Fundraising Reports a. Younkers: A couple of students did this. It was organized by Teri Hannon. problem: More students were interested, but were under the age of 16. Parent could not go with the under-aged student. Next year suggestion: Could do as service project instead of cash -Turn cash over to Music parents. b. Cookie Dough just finished successfully c. Seroogy candy ongoing d. Wisconsin Veteran Organization Report: Don Dickert: has not received proclamation; has been very busy, has not done the hand-written letter. Will meet with Cindy Coy to organize this project involving letters to all the veteran organizations in the state. This would help defray the expenses for the Washington D.C. trip for the band students. e. Karen Gotz' brother-in-law works for a memorabilia store where he could sell us things @ his cost, which would still insure us to raise a large amount of money/item.* f. Alison Manwiller has a patent leather Green Bay Packer football which is autographed. This could be raffied or something else to raise money. * g. Don Dickert could donate a Packer commemorative coin. * h. Items could possibly be auctioned off on ebay* ** All of the above items could raise monies for the general music fund . Sound System a. Sound system might not need $5000 from Music Parents; more like $4000; district is providing the labor b. Problem: All techies have quit -don't really know the status. c. Erica Schmaychel, a SW staff member, is now in charge d. District has not hired someone to run the Sound System e. Need thorough instructional guide to use the new system -Alison will check into this with Bruce Kitzman f. This project should be completed within the next 10 days (by January 20, 2004) NEW BUSINES: World's Largest Orchestra a. There will be no World's Largest Orchestra this year at Miller Park in Milwaukee- Keynote Income a. There is a large discrepancy between the Keynote income which has been recorded in the Treasurer's Report and that which was recorded in the program for the Winter Concert. Alison Manwiller will check on this. March 6th: Solo & Ensemble at Preble a. Workers (a lot) of workers are needed for this one day event Southwest Music Parent's Website a.
