Southwest Music Parents Association February 12, 2004 Minutes Mary Neilsen from The Green Bay Civic Symphony addressed the group with a proposal. The Symphony wants to support our students' musical interests by offering tickets for the April concert. Additionally, The Symphony would like Southwest Music Parents to buy several season tickets next year to be used by students. Karen Gotz will contact Ms. Neilsen with the total number of tickets desired for April. The group agreed on a plan to consider the purchase of six season tickets for next year. Ms Neilsen said The Symphony will match that with an additional two season tickets for a total of eight. The cost of student ticket is $15 each per season so the total expense would be $90. November mjnutes were reviewed and approved Tripp Maher reported that he did find the check issued by the Booster Club in the amount of $3,610 which brings balance to the accounting of donations. The treasurer's report was reviewed and approved. The sound system installation is complete. No one was able to report on the quality of the improvement. No bill has yet been received from the School District. Training for teachers was discussed and Alison Manwiller said she would talk to the administration about this and report next month. Alison will also ask Karen Utnehmer about the techie situation to learn who will be working on future programs and to see whether any of those who resigned are wecome to return. Pam Miller indicated her husband, Dennis, is probably willing to assist, if needed. The band trip plans are moving forward, Cindy Coy has the Governor's Proclamation and Don Dickert's letter to the VFWs was reviewed, Editions to the letter were discussed and a group of parents and students will meet next week to stuff envelopes for the mailing. The group agreed to discuss the possibility of a raffle at the next meeting. .Volunteer sheets were available for Solo & Ensemble; Karen Gotz said she thought we would be in good shape with our numbers, Cindy Coy asked the group to offer funds to offset student costs for the Honors Band program held at St. Norbert this coming weekend. The student's have paid $75 and she is looking for about $25 per student. Tripp needs to review last year's scholarship history and we'll review this next month. The March agenda will include a discussion regarding next year's officers. Kathy Dickert provided information re: the work on the music program web site. The address is: http:/geocities.com/gbswhsmusic/index.html Don is looking for teacher bios to add to the information. Alison Manwiller reported on an anonymous letter received from a donor. The writer was concerned that he/she had received no thanks for their financial contribution. We reviewed our existing mechanism for thank yous: listings in all music programs, public thanks at music gatherings, large posters with donor names at the fall concert. We agreed that none of us received thanks for our donations from neither Booster Club nor Parent Network and so, were in line with other parent organizations. The feasibility to write individual notes was discussed and we agreed we have too little manpower to do those things we now are responsible for. We reviewed the calendar and discussed upcoming events. The group agreed that a Pops Concert date needs to get put on the calendar ASAP . Next meeting: March 11 th. @ 6:00 PM
