Trip 2      3/4/01
Snohomish river, put in at Lowell Park
2 miles est.

All the rest of the family were otherwise occupied and there wasn't anyone around to tell me I couldn't so I headed back down to the river sunday afternoon and went for a little longer paddle.
The tide was on its way out so I paddled upriver, staying close to the bank out of the wind and taking advantage of the eddy's where possible.  I am trying to be very careful since I didn't have a wetsuit, no sprayskirt and no flotation at all in the boat.  The snohomish is a very flat river and I have paddled my canoe in it many times in the same conditions, including some rescue practice, and yes mom, I do wear my PFD. (lifejacket).

I crossed the river and headed up the Ebey Slough for about a half a mile before turning back and facing the wind.  The crossing back over the river with the current but with wind and waves in my face was so fun that I just stayed in the middle of the river most of the way back to the put in.  Most of the waves were under a foot in height so really weren't a concern.

Thats it for the Launch weekend, I had been looking foreward to this for a long long time.  I started the boat in early Sept. so about 5 months of work to get it to this point.
