INTRODUCTION.
Government Boys’ Secondary School No.1. Jacob Line
Karachi, is situated near the famous STUDENTS’ BIRYANI, SADDAR KARACHI; is
considered as one of the best government schools in the heart of city; where
the quality is preferred onto the quantity. Though the annual fee/fund rates
are even many times lower than a private school’s monthly dues, yet the school administration and the staff
have contributed a lot to provide the best facilities to their students. The facilitates
that a good school needs, are available with very positive minded team of
teachers/non teaching staff under dynamic leadership of professional,
energetic, educated, experienced and
visionary head.
OLD HISTORY.
It is
considered as one of the oldest and one time best schools of
WHEN THE NEW HEAD HAD TAKEN OVER...
Though
the school has seen many good or bad days and going through all the
difficulties & crisis since its birth yet the previous 10 years have really
told upon its status & out put. The political war of tug & anarchy,
rivalry and other mafias have really troubled the whole of the area. Being a
government school, the administration was bound in chains and the then
administration was not fully capable to move the institution to its right path.
The school was turned to torture-cells; the class rooms were destroyed; there
was no electricity, washrooms and water facilities. The regularity and
punctuality among staff and students were missing. There was no self respect
and for others. There was no security for the staff and students and no
participation of parents through SMC. NGOs like Rotary; were
utterly hopeless and completely convinced that there was no use of wasting
money, resources and efforts on the institution. The enrolment was dropped up
to 120.
THE PRESENT SCHOOL HEAD.
Mr.
Aftab Ahmad Shaikh has been working in the context of education
for the last 17 years; served as teacher and administrator in various
organizations. He was also appointed as Principal in FG school system through
Federal Public Service Commission in grade 18 directly; then he succeeded
through Sindh Public Service Commission and appointed as head of this old
school. Soon he was assigned to work as Deputy District Officer-I for 3 major
towns of
He
keeps on writing on various issues on Education. He has got the degrees of
M.Sc (Physics), M.A(Int. Relations), M.A(Economics) & M.Ed.VTPT from
IED-AKU, more than 24 Inservice Trainings and courses from BC&EW Sindh
& CIPD
He
has clear visions and beliefs about life, religion, culture and country. He
believes in dynamic leadership and change from top (leadership level). He with
other like minded officers started working on family oriented model of
administration (unlike typical bureaucratic and participatory models) and they
believe that they are doing effectively in the prevailing system of education.
He
doesn’t believe upon biological age but emotional age (beside EQ) with regard
to efficiency and out put. With the help of motivational skills and the support
by the Almighty Allah; he has developed a team of good positive minded teaching
and non-teaching staff and community members. His contacts :-2785906 (School) 9217261 (Office), 2768846 (Home) 03012566980 (Cell) [email protected]

Electric motor and pump used to remain out of order and cause a conflict

for wash rooms watering to the lawns and other plantation. Water table had been
dropped to a deep extent making the boring useless. |
Water has been made
available by boring the earth up to 150 feet deep. Typical motor and pump

Rooms for teachers. |
Needed major repairs. Dusty

give them a good look. |
Wish to make them even
better by providing adequate furniture and lockers. |
|

Office for the Clerks &
record keeping. |
There was nothing but the
mess. There was no any sense of record keeping and its security. Room for clerks
was nothing but a store for the junk and garbage. Secretarial staff kept on
sitting here and there to do their work. |
The record has now
maintained to our best. The room for clerks and office staff has been tidily
maintained. Office works smoothly and the clerks work like responsible govt.

We wish to improve our
result especially with sparkling grades. |
OUR LIMITATIONS & RESTRICTIONS
We are a part of government
school system and naturally we are bind, limited and restricted to the
government rules & regulations. For example we:-
Cannot appoint/transfer/terminate the staff in
a usual way; lack funds; cannot bypass the bureaucratic style of
administration; cannot avoid prevailing corruption and malfunction by the
primary & secondary stakeholders of the organization; have very poor boys
working in dual shifts with mostly illiterate contexts; are unable to face the
political and social mafia and what not? L
