Another thing I have learned after taking this class is the main focus of the Gospel writers and also about the array of differences between the Gospels. I had previously assumed that the Gospels were all written before the letters and had all been written for Jewish converts. However, I now realize that although the Gospels are placed before the letters in the New Testament, the Gospels were, in fact, written later. Also, I now know that each Gospel had a different audience, for instance, Marks Gospel was written many for Gentile converts, but Matthews Gospel had been written for Jewish converts, and that the Gospels had not been written in the order they are in the Bible. I additionally realized, after taking this course, the many differences between the Gospels, such as the washing of the feet only being located in Johns Gospel and Jesus birth in Bethlehem only being found in two of the four Gospels. By reading the Gospel of Matthew and taking this class, I have found new understanding of the purpose and the significance of the Gospels.
Finally, after watching the The Last 18 Hours of Christ, I now know much more about Jesus death that I had not originally imagined. Before seeing this movie, I had not even thought about Jesus lack of sleep that during this time, or his lack of food or water which caused his dehydration. There were many other subtle things that caused Jesus much pain that I had no idea of, like the roughness of the cross on his raw skin as he carried it to his death place, the stress he underwent causing him much physical and emotional suffering, or the specific cause of his death: hypovolemic shock. Before seeing this video, I had never really taken a medical or scientific outlook on Jesus death, and because of this movie I had a newer and enhanced outlook toward the amount of suffering Jesus endured during his last hours.
