The Gospel of Matthew was supposedly written by the apostle Matthew, although its author is unknown. This Gospel was written specifically for Jewish Christians, which can be proven through a large amount of symbolism only understood by Jews. This gospel is one of the Synoptic Gospels and was written shortly after the Gospel of Mark around 60-85 B.C. Its two main sources are the Gospel of Mark and the Q Document. This Gospel must have been the most popular of the four among the Jewish converts.
