My Honda is a 1975 F1 750, I have had the bike about six years now, I don't use it a lot but if I have a long journey to do it is the best bike for the job. As usual for a bike of this age it has had a few modifications done to it. There follows a list of them and the reasons for them:
Brakes- Braded brake hoses all round and on the front a twin disc setup from an F2 Honda. The brakes are'nt brilliant by modern standards but are more than up to the job now.
Suspension- Progressive fork springs fitted, this had to be done otherwise the front end would bottom out if you were to brake hard. The rear shock absorbers are a new old stock of genuine Honda ones, they seem alright but i'm sure a set of Koni Dial-A-Ride's would improve matters no end. A box section rear swinging arm to stiffen up the rear end.
Ignition- It's fitted with a Pararna electronic ignition which is great and has never been a problem and never had to be adjusted.
Engine- The engine has been rebuilt but is all more or less standard.
Lights- It has a halegon head light conversion which is a vast improvement on the original headlight. One problem with this is that the alternator can only just keep up with the higher wattage bulbs. So far day time running i've wired the switch so that the side light position puts on just the headlight and the head light position brings on all the other lights, i.e instruments, side lights and tail lights, this allows me to run just the headlight beam for daytime running. This also means that I have to give the battery a lot more charge on daytime runs. Even if the battery is a bit flat it's not a major problem as the bike has a kick start, as well as an electric start.
