GBA Update: sales, ATI rumours and more

Sales: the GBA has sold an impressive six million units worlwide in just 18 months, with around 1.8 million units being brought by UK gamers alone - and lets not forget the release the of the GBA SP, which should be tempting even more users, as well as attracting existing owners wanting a upgrade.
ATI: after ATI revealing that they are making the new chip for Nintendo's next home console, some rumours speculated that they are also making a 3D chip for the next Game Boy system. This would mean that the next Game Boy would have to be 64 bit or more.
E-reader: for those who don't know the E-reader can let you play 8 bit retro classics through a cheap priced card. You swipe the card through the top of the cart (like the ones on the supermarket tills). In Japan the E-reader has already got top games such as Mario party-e, Aninmal Crossing-e, Pokemon-e and includes classics like Donkey Kong-e, Mario Bros-e and loads more.

New Game Boy Advance revealed

Nintendo made a shocking annocement during the week. After just 18 months of the GBA release, nintendo have revealed an update of the gameboy advance. They said that they have released a new model because of the complaints from the orginal. Such as no built in light, dodgey placed buttons and screen exposer.The updated version solves all these problems by having a bulit in light, a flip top screen (like a laptop), newly placed buttons and rechargable battery (like a mobile phone). The Gameboy advance SP looks even better than the original, and when folded in half it is truly pocket sized (about the same size as a mini disc player).
The batterey when fully charged, will give you 10 hours of gaming with the light on, or 18 hours without a light. The buttons of the SP use digital technolgy, they will make the same noise as when you click your PC mouse. The Sp will be landing on UK's shores on March 28th, and will be priced between �80-�90. So get saving your money, to able yourself  to play your GBA whatever the time of day.

GameCube Game Boy Player Unleashed Article Date: February 17th, 2003
Nintendo have annouced the release if a GameCube Game Boy player to be released during 2003. Nintendo are following the foot steps of the Super Game Boy for the SNES, which allowed you to play game boy games on the SNES.
The GB player will allow you to play game boy advance games through the gamecube and then onto the TV. Nintendo have said that you can enlarge the GBA screen to whatever size you want. They have also stated that their won't be any distortion. The hard ware is an inch think in size and fits neatly underneath the gamecube, the GBA carts slot inside the front of it. The GB player will be able to play all game boy games in full colour. The actual hardware comes in black or purple. When controllingvthe GB games you can decide if you want to use the gamecube controller or the GBA. It depends on want you find more comfortable. The official price of the hard ware hasn't yet been released for Europe, but from price conversions from the US expect it to around �50.
