Since humble comic book beginnigs and endless mechandice, Spider-Man has grown into a huge cult following. More recently the Spider-Man film (that promises to be a ground breaker) has once again ignited my Spider-Man spark within and moved me to review this game. Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six is the sequel to Spider-Man (both are GameBoy Color titles) and promises to be a great hit.

Gameplay:
Basic concept, amazing playability! It follows the fairly standard principles of any platforming beat-'em-up, race around bashing the thugs, but has an amazing style also. The great amount of ways to move is compareable only to Tomb Raider for GameBoy Color. Each level is set on a theme and features a boss at the end. Another plus for the gameplay is the addition of a storyline, and staying true to it's comic book beginnings, Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six has an action plot that seems to work quite well.

Graphics:
Graphics are awesome. Colorful level design is strong throughout the game's entirety. The levels different one from another, and contain good detail. Spider-Man himself features very smooth animation and has an impressive amount of frames. He is designed and colored perfectly, and he is the perfect size for the GameBoy Color screen. The roaming thugs also change from level to level, as do the beatifully animated bosses. Another thing I picked up on was the "BIF", "BAM" comic book style exclaimations when you crack a thug across the head! Kewl!

Sound:
Sound Effects are decent and hold up pretty well. I love the sound of sloggin' a thug in the face *whap!* Music is okay... I guess. It does get a bit repetative but thats okay because by pressing Start during play, you can independantly toggle Sound and Music.

Controls:
I love the controls. There is heaps of stuff to pull off, yet the controls remain simple enough to figure out in the first two minutes of gameplay (as I did). B is attack, A is Jump or web-swing, A+B is shoot web (this temperarily imobilises the enemy), Select is current mission, and traditionally Start is pause and also sound menu. Up is climb up or look up, Down is drop to crawl or climb down, Left and Right are move left and right.

Final Words:
This game was great and I seriously recommend it to anyone looking for a game of this genre. It's good for long plays and for a quick 10 minutes of furied fighting to relieve stress. The password works suprisingly well as does the menu system. Pick up this game soon, or at least rent it for a great little platformer with amazing graphics and control.
