As with all of my previous GameBoy systems, the first accessory I purchased (apart from the GameBoy itself) was an auxiliary power supply. This would usually come in the form of an AC Adapter, or rechargeable batteries. It was much the same concerning my GameBoy Advance. I chose the Mad Catz Battery Pack for more reasons than one. For starters, it was cheaper than the Nintendo Battery Pack, costing about 2 thirds the price! Also the fact that it was an AC Adapter as well as a rechargeable battery pack (that advertized 12 hours of gaming per charge) was very attractive. I picked it up from my local Toys-R-Us for around $19.50 (Australian Dollars). The appearance of the item is very nice. The Battery Pack looks identical to the GameBoy battery cover, except for the inclusion of a Mad Catz logo. The AC Adapter was small and very compact, and did the job perfectly. The AC Adapter has a 2m cord that connects to the Battery Pack, either when it is in or out of he GameBoy. Both the Battery Pack and the AC Adapter are colored. There is a range of colors to suit your GameBoy. I had to buy the translucent purple one, as there were no white ones in stock at Toys-R-Us. I remedied the problem with a quick spray of white enamel. Use of the item is both simple and practical. The AC Adapter plugs directly into a power point in your home. The lead then plugs into the Battery Pack and charges the Pack when the GameBoy is 'off', or acts as an AC Adapter when the GameBoy is 'on'. Oh, and you can charge the Battery Pack without it actually being in the GameBoy, for this reason it would be handy to own two, charge one and use the other - then switch them around. The power lead sticks out of the Battery Pack by a few millimeters, but thats no big deal. I have found this accessory to be one of the most valuable for my GameBoy yet. So if you don't want to waste money on batteries, I recommend spending AU$20 for a Mad Catz Battery Pack as soon as possible. Oh, and it really does last 12 hours per charge, I timed it! Also available is a car charger/adapter which comes with the same Battery Pack. This makes travelling much easier because you can mix and change the battery packs ensuring maximun power at all times.
