More dissention has taken place in the GFW after I took a trip to Madison Square Garden for the Rod Memorial Show. After the lack of hype for the event, and last weeks Prime getting hacked off the network, we knew this wasn't going to give us our moneys worth. We had no shows and we had crap. But, we also had surprises and some classy stuff. When we found out that the show had been cut from pay-per-view and that this event was only taking place in front of the people in the arena, my friend sitting next to me said that this might be the last GFW show ever. I disagreed. The GFW looks to be shutting its doors after last nights event but, they will be back just like they always are. So anyways here is a rundown of what went down in New York.

SSM vs. Ichabod

Well to kick things off we found out that either Ichabod no showed or that the head honchos in the GFW used his name as a publicity stunt. SSM needed an opponent and he sure got one. Calvin Johnson made a big return from making his recent action flick which doesn't make much sense because Calvin is a more mainstream attraction than Ichabod has ever been. Just goes to show you that Nester DeFranco really has no clue how to run this place.

Singles Match
SSM vs. Calvin Johnson

So Calvin came out and played to the crowd which was a real treat. And apparently Calvin doesn't compete in dildo on a pole matches because this match was quickly changed to a plain old singles match. Big deal though. I am kinda glad I didn't get to see one of them get a dildo up the ass so this was a sweet deal. Calvin took care of business and got the crowd hot for the nights event. SSM played up his heel character and drew a lot of heat. Calvin wins with the Rock Bottom at around the twelve minute mark. ***1/2*

GFW Tag Team Championship Match
Mr. Fabulous & Lex Wonder(c) vs. Hobo Joe & Stinky Steve

In another return that was actually hyped, Stinky Steve teamed with Hobo Joe to take on the longest reigning GFW tag team champs of all time, Mr. Fabulous and Lex Wonder. This makes the least amount of sense because people actually don't goto the shows because they don't want to get shit on themselves. But, shit there was and lots of it. Hobo Joe and Stinky Steve got the old septic pump truck down at ringside and made Lex and Fabulous to leave before gettign doused through the crowd. The referee counts them out and awards the match to Hobo and Stinky who celebrate with the tag team titles despite winning them. Lex and Fabulous refused to come back for the belts with the threat of the poop trucks hose. I would give it worse but, this will do. *

Interpromotional Match
Starchild vs. 'Grade A' PKA

In one of the biggest disappointments of the night other than the Ichabod cancelation, PKA flat out no showed and I know he was booked because I was talking to one of the stage hands when getting a drink. Anyhow, Starchile and PKA did not wrestle which is disappointing because they had an awwesome match in the nWo a few days back that headlined the Jacked Up pay-per-view. Nester came out and apologized for PKA and let everyone know he had decided to goto the nWo to be entered into the King Karnage tournament after being promised a match with PKA. Nester said he would make the new nWo world champion pay come Malice for no showing his big event and that despite the bad news he had a replacement.

Singles Match
Starchild vs. Yankee Kid

Nester announces the Yankee Kid who puts on a great match with the Starchild however Starchild got the win around the fourteen minute mark with an inside cradle after a quick series of pinning manuevers by both men. A great athletic display but, no Starchild/PKA match. I give it **1/2* but, that is being generous.

X & TV Title Unification Ladder Match
Pyschotic X(c) vs. Shane Madison(c) vs. Anton Chase

This was perhaps the match of the night. And excellent match by the true stars of the GFW. Phychotic X, Shane Madison and Anton Chase put on a hell of a match for over thirty minutes. The match ended when Phychotic X and Anton Chase were on top of the ladder trying to fight their way to the belts. Phychotic X threw him down through a series of tables laying him out. Shane Madison then climbed up the other side of the ladder and fought it out with P-X until at one point, punching each other in the air before falling to the mat with a championship each. Shae Madison found a way to retain his TV title and P-X did the same with his X title. Easily a classic that would have been somethign for the collection if it had been on TV. ****1/2*

Winner(s)- Phychotic X retains the X title and Shane Madison retains the TV title

GFW World Championship Match
Jugernaut(c) vs. Opponent to be named at the event
Special Enforcers Anastasia & Mr. Fabulous
Special Referee Dick Gazinya

You just had to know there was somethign up with this match from the get go. I heard rumors that there was never a real opponent for Jugernaut. That the GFW used this as a ploy because that had no one big enough to draw any audience. We figured one of the guys formt he trainign camp would come and get squashed. Can anyone say XTJ? But, XTJ the man wasn't. In what could have been the biggest surprise in the GFW's history, this entire show was a weak scam to garner sympathy for Rod Gazinya only for him to return and challenge the man who has become the greatest modern day GFW champion, Juggernaut. Rod Gazinya was determined to prove he was the best champion ever in the GFW and win the title for a third time. It seemed possible and was despite Jugernaut giving Rod Gazinya the worst beating I have ever seen. Man can Rod sell his opponent. But, it turned out that Dick, Mr. Fabulous and Anastasia were all in cahoots. THey blatantly cheat Jugernaut out of the GFW championship, draping an unconcious Rod Gazinya over Jugernaut for the pinfall. The Gazinya family then had security haul Jugernaut out of the building depite his attempts to fight with the security officers. Rod celebrated with the world title and who can blame him? Even thoug it was a cheap finish, it had to be done if the GFW was closing its doors, not to mention Rod Gazinya put Jugernaut to the greatest match of his late career. ****

Nasty Dick Experience vs. Quake & Vile Connection

It was a good thing that Jugernaut was escorted from the building because we got a clean match for the ages that left the fans happy. NDE and QVC went to a sisty minute draw and all four men showed respect and shook the others hands in a classy display and a good note to end the GFW on for now. ***** just because it's NDE vs. QVC

Winner- Draw Great show, sad to see the GFW end but, it looks like some storylines could fill on over to the nWo. That's my guess at least and sense I already watch nWo, it doesn't seem that bad.
