Don't waste  money on commercial potpourri!
Fill a large pot with water and simply add any citrus (lemon is wonderful as are orange and grapefruit) rind or even slices of leftover wedges. Put in some cinnamon sticks (or a dash of cinnamon) then simmer on low heat.
You can spice this up by adding apple peels or slices, other spices such as nutmet or allspice, and even a peppermint stick or candy.
CAUTION: Do not leave this on the stove unattended and don't let it boil dry.

Lemon and orange extract are just the thing to freshen up any room!  You can dab some on a cotton ball, place in a bowl or small jar with lid (punch holes to let the frangrance out) and place around a room, closet or even in your automobile
CAUTION: Extracts are concentrates that have a very high alcohol content and should not be used around small children or where pets may ingest them. Do not let extract come in direct contact with any wood, painted surface, marble or granite.
If your cutting board smells from onions, garlic or even fish, pour on a little vinegar, let it set a minute or two, wipe, rinse and the odor should be gone. If your hands have absorbed the odor, rub them together with vinegar and rinse. You an also use mouthwash or toothpaste as a deodorizer

To clean cloudy drinking glasses, soak them for an hour or longer in slightly warn (not boiled) white vinegar. Then use a nylon-net or plastic scrubbie to remove the film   Still there? The damage must be scratches that occur in the dishwasher. To avoid: Hand wash your best glasses
To erase white heat marks and water rings on wood furniture (don't try on bare wood) mix equal parts of baking soda and regular white, nongel toothpaste. Lightly dampen corner of a clean clothe with water and dip into the paste.  With a circular motion gently buff the marks for a few minutes. Wipe the area clean and buff to a shine. follow with furniture polish. (if rings remain after buffing five minutes or so, they may have penetrated the woood? you might have to refinish the piece.)
To remove crayon from painted walls or washable wallpaper spray with multipurpose lubricating oil ( don't let it drip on the floor). Then gently wipe, using a paper towel or clean white cloth. If mark is stubborn, sprinkle a little baking soda on a damp sponge and gently rub in a circular motion. If lubricants residue remains, dampen a sponge with a solution of one or two drops of mild dish-washing liquid to one cup of water.
Squeeze out sponge and gently rub in a circular motion.
Rinse sponge; lightly moisten with water to go over area: dry with a clean cloth.
To lift candle wax that has dripped onto carpet:  Once the wax has hardened, scrape up what you can with a dull knife. Put paper towels or an old, white cloth (I've also used waxed paper) over the area. With iron on low-warm (no steam), gently press. As wax is lifted, move towels so a clean part covers the remaining wax: repeat until wax is gone. If colored wax leaves a stain, blot with spot remover or carpet cleaner, following label directions.
To dust those hard to reach tiny crevices, spray the bristles of an artist's paintbrush with furniture polish to dust and polish at the same time
To make your own dusting oil, take three parts light mineral oil and mix with one part corn oil: add a drop of lemon or clove oil for a pleasant scent.  Put this on your dust mop or dust rag and store in a plastic bag.  When the mop or rag becomes dirty, wash in warm water and reapply
For a double duty cleaning tip, spray your duster with your favorite air freshener. This will remove dust and freshen your home at the same time.
