local hero
gaygayokc!'s local hero of the month is our
very own Guy Peters! Guy, as many of you know, has lived in the OKC
area for several years, and is originally from Harrah, OK. Guy has always
been a big influence, constant presence, and outspoken advocate for
our community here in OKC. Guy is one of the nicest, kindest people
you could ever meet, and is always willing to lend an ear, or an opinion,
to anyone in the community.
coupled with his charitable hands comes his
charitable heart, and a friendly hug is always welcome and available.
he has many friends in the community, and is well respected, admired,
and recognized by all. Guy can always be found lending a hand at many
of the city's GLBT events throughout the year.
Guy has been with PNI
over the course of the year, produced a video that was sent to the
Interpride Conference in San Francisco CA (which received a standing
ovation nonetheless), and was asked to represent OKC in the St. Louis
Regional Interpride Conference.
Guy says he has been 'slowly
evolving his participation in the group' over this year and is about
to release another Pride video.
Guy's likes include his close friends, Dallas'
Oaklawn district, and 'Wig In a Box' from the movie/musical 'Hedwig
& The Angry Inch'. his dislikes include 'NU school rap', bass thumping
drive bys, and 'judgemental pricks'. his favorite place to hang out
is The Wreck Room.
Guy's varied interests include Twin Peaks,
David Lynch, the Icelandic sensations Sigur Ros, french musicians AIR,
music music music!, and activisim (getting up and making it happen).
well, he certainly has been making alot of
things happen, and making alot of people smile along the way. to my
personal friend, and a friend to this community: congratulations, Guy
Peters, you are gaygayokc!'s *first* 'Local
Hero' of the month!
