Obeah Rituals

Uses for the Third Eye
Auspex, Level One and Two: The Salubri can use his/her third eye in conjunction for better results. Open the third eye and spent one Willpower point. The Salubri can then add his/her Obeah level as extra die to the Auspex roll.
If the Salubri has Protean, Level One: Gleam of Red Eyes, he/she can use the same system.

Obeah Rituals
The Salubri have developed several rituals to go along with the discipline of Obeah. The level of Obeah determines the level of ritual allowed to cast. The word 'ritual' is used for lack of a better word and should not be confused with the Tremere's rituals which are used with Thaumaturgy. Why should the Tremere have all the fun.

Mask the Third (Level One)
This ritual is used to cast a simple illusion to hide a Salubri's third eye. The illusion only covers the forehead, not the entire face. The illusion is perfect and cannot be detected in any way. This ritual is taught to every Salubri, but is seldom used except in extreme cases where the Salubri would need to hide his/her true nature. Many Salubri consider it a falsehood and conceit to use this ritual.

Sense the Beast (Level One)
This ritual allows a Salubri to measure another's Humanity. This ritual can be used on anyone, but only characters using Vampire rules have an actual Humanity score. For those other individuals, the Storyteller should assign an appropriate Humanity score. The Salubri rolls Perception + Empathy, difficulty is the target's Willpower. Only one success is needed. If the roll is a botch, a false reading is given, usually the opposite of the target's real Humanity score. The Salubri must observe the target during the casting and at least five minutes after the casting time. NOTE: This ritual will detect a Sabbat vampire by its lack of Humanity.

Sense the Virtuous (Level Two)
This ritual is similar to Sense the Beast except the Salubri can measure another's Virtues. Again, the Storyteller should assign values where needed. Only one of the Virtues can be sensed at a time. The Salubri rolls Perception + Empathy, difficulty is the target's Willpower. Only one success is needed. If a botch is rolled, a false reading will be given. The Salubri must observe the target during the casting and at least five minutes after. NOTE: This ritual will detect a Sabbat vampire by its different Virtues.

Sense the Restless (Level Two)
This ritual allows a Salubri to use the third eye to detect ghosts (Wraiths) in the area. The Salubri casts the ritual, rolls Willpower, difficulty is listed below depending on the location, see below, and looks around. Any ghosts (Wraiths) in eyesight can be seen as hazy outlines. No specific information can be determined. The Salubri cannot interact or converse with the ghosts (Wraiths).

POSSIBLE LOCATIONS DIFFICULTY
Crowed, dim light club playing Top 40: 7
Country crossroads on a moonless night: 6
Old mansion where brutal murders occurred: 5
Deserted cemetery at midnight on a full moon: 4

Detect Thaumaturgy Magic (Level Two)
This ritual allows a Salubri to detect active Tremere Thaumaturgy rituals and Paths. This ritual will only work on Tremere Thaumaturgy rituals and Paths. Any active (already cast and still up) rituals and Paths can be detected, no matter what they were cast on. Example: This ritual can detect Escape to a True Friend a Tremere has cast, or will detect Defense of Sacred Haven cast on a room. The Salubri rolls Perception + Occult, difficulty is two plus the level of ritual or Path, maximum of ten. Range is ten feet per success rolled. This ritual will only detect the magical energy of the ritual or Path. If the Salubri rolled four or more successes, the actual ritual or Path will be known.

Cat's Eye (Level Three)
This ritual allows a Salubri to use the third eye to see better at night or in darkness. The Salubri can see as well at night or in darkness as he/she can see in normal light. No penalties to any sight roll are applied. Cannot be used in total darkness, some ambient light must be available. This ritual can be used in conjunction with Level One Auspex.

Magical Aura (Level Three)
This ritual allows a Salubri to resist Tremere Thaumaturgy Paths and rituals. After this ritual is cast, all difficulties on Thaumaturgy rolls against the Salubri are doubled in the Salubri's favor, maximum of ten.

Path of Golconda (Level Three)
This ritual allows a Salubri to detect if a vampire is on or seeking the Path of Golconda. The Salubri use this ritual to help guide vampires on the Path. This ritual cannot be used on a Salubri him/herself. The Salubri rolls Perception + Empathy, difficulty is 12 minus the target's Humanity, minimum of two, maximum of ten. If four or more successes were rolled, the Salubri gains some insight or sign to lead the vampire to the next level. This ritual can only be used once on any vampire.

Speak with the Restless (Level Three)
This ritual is similar to Sense the Restless, except it allows a Salubri to speak to ghosts (Wraiths). The Salubri can clearly see and converse with a ghost (Wraith). The Salubri casts the ritual, rolls Willpower, difficulty is the same as for . On a successful roll, the Salubri can see and talk to any ghosts (Wraiths) in the area. A botched roll will result in the Salubri seeing 'something.' The 'something' is up to the Storyteller.

Calming Eye (Level Four)
This ritual allows a Salubri to use the third eye to create a calming ray to help others resist frenzy. The ray is a soft light and will not cause Rotschreck. The Salubri casts the ritual, spends a Willpower point and opens the third eye. The ray will cover a medium-sized room with the light. Any frenzy capable individuals will be affected. Anyone in frenzy can make a new roll to resist, any others will have the difficulty not to frenzy raised or lowered by two where appropriate. Once the duration ends, frenzy attempts return to normal.

Expel The Restless (Level Four)
This ritual is used to drive out ghosts (Wraiths) from an area (equal to one floor of a typical office building), or keep out ghosts (Wraiths). It creates a magical barrier to keep out ghosts, and only ghosts (Wraiths). The Salubri casts the ritual, rolling Manipulation + Occult; if there is any ghosts in the area, the Salubri's target number is the highest Willpower rating of the ghosts. On a successful roll, the ghosts will leave and not be able to return for ten (10) minutes times the number of successes rolled. If there were no ghosts present, the target number is eight (8). Multiply the number of successes by ten minutes to see how long the ghost barrier is up. No ghosts will be able to enter the area once this ritual is successfully cast. After the time limit is up, the ghosts can move into the area normally. Arcanos will not work inside or through a barrier.

Bind the Restless (Level Four)
This ritual is used to trap and keep a ghost (Wraith). Only works on ghosts (Wraiths). The Salubri will have to know before hand if a ghost is present in the Salubri's line of sight. This ritual works on one ghost at a time. The Salubri casts this ritual, rolling Manipulation + Occult, target number is the Willpower of the ghost. On a successful roll, multiply the number of successes by ten minutes, this is how long the ghost is trapped. The ghost will be immobilized and unable to use any Arcanos while the ritual is going. The ghost can still talk (if able). Once the time limit is up, the ghost is released and back to normal. Hopefully, the Salubri will be long gone by that time...

Reflect Thaumaturgy Magic (Level Four)
This ritual is used to protect a Salubri from Tremere rituals and Paths. The Salubri usually cast this ritual right after waking up for the night. The Salubri casts the ritual, rolling Stamina + Occult, target number is eight (8). Four successes are needed for a successful cast. When the Salubri encounters a Tremere, and the Tremere casts a ritual or uses a Path against the Salubri, both the Salubri and Tremere roll opposed Willpower rolls: each rolls his own Willpower, target number is the other's Willpower score. If the Tremere rolls more successes, his ritual or Path affects the Salubri. If the Salubri rolls more successes, the Tremere's ritual or Path is reflected back to the Tremere and affects the Tremere just as if the ritual or Path was cast against the Tremere. This ritual only works against Thaumaturgy rituals that directly affect the target, will not protect against a ritual like

Sense the True Form (Level Five)
This ritual allows a Salubri to use the third eye to see an individual's true form. This ritual will detect Vampires hiding or disguising themselves using Disciplines, detect Garou in Homid form, and reveal Mages and Kithian. The Salubri must look at an individual with the third eye for at least five minutes after casting this ritual.

Pierce the Veil (Level Five)
A Salubri can use the third eye to look into the Penumbra. Roll Willpower and see the table below for difficulty:

Exorcise the Restless (Level Five)
This ritual will remove a ghost (Wraith) from an area permanently. Works only on ghosts (Wraiths) and only one ghost at a time. The Salubri needs to know before hand if a ghost is present before the ritual is cast. The Salubri casts the ritual, rolls Manipulation + Occult, target number is the Willpower of the ghost. Four successes are need on the roll. If the Salubri is successful, the ghost is driven from the area (the size of a typical office building floor) and can never return to that area. If the area was a Fetter for the ghost, and the Salubri rolls twice the number of successes as the level of the Fetter, the ghost's link to the Fetter is broken. If this is the ghost's last Fetter, the ghost will be pulled in Stygia, never able to return to the Shadowlands.

Quiet Thaumaturgy Magic (Level Five)
This ritual allows a Salubri to block Thaumaturgy magic use of a Tremere. This ritual only works on Tremeres, will not work on other Kindred who know Thaumaturgy. Will only work on one Tremere at a time. The Salubri casts the ritual, rolls Manipulation + Occult, target number is the Tremere's Willpower. If the Salubri is successful, multiply the number of successes by ten (10) minutes to see how long the Tremere cannot use his/her Thaumaturgy. This includes all Paths and rituals the Tremere knows, not matter what level. If any Paths or rituals were going or being cast when a Salubri uses this ritual, all the Tremere's Paths and/or rituals will be dispelled and shut down. Other Disciplines are unaffected. Once the time limit is up, Thaumaturgy use is back to normal. This ritual affects the Tremere's Thaumaturgy directly, not any Paths or rituals themselves.

Purifying Light (Level Six)
This ritual allows a Salubri to create a burning light from the third eye to burn a vampire. This ritual only affects vampires and will not effect the caster. The Salubri casts the ritual, spends two Willpower points and a very bright light shoots from the third eye to the target. The target must be within eyesight, and only one vampire can be hit per ritual. The target suffers seven aggravated wounds from fire. The target can make a soak roll if it has Fortitude. Any other vampires in the area seeing the light must make a Self Control roll, difficulty five, or run in fear. Immediately after casting this ritual, the Salubri must make a Conscience roll, difficulty eight, or lose a point of Humanity. The Salubri VERY rarely use this ritual and only in the most EXTREME cases where the destruction of a vampire would have the greatest benefit to all involved.

Destroy Thaumaturgy Magic (Level Six)
This powerful ritual allows a Salubri to cancel Thaumaturgy Discipline levels in a Tremere. This ritual only effects Tremere vampires with Thaumaturgy. Will not work on non-Tremere vampires who have Thaumaturgy. The Salubri must be able to see a Tremere to cast this ritual. Will only work on one Tremere at a time. The Salubri casts the ritual, rolls Intelligence + Occult, difficulty is target's Willpower. Every success rolled erases one dot off the Tremere's Thaumaturgy Discipline, starting with the highest dot. This lose is permanent, but the Tremere can spend experience points later to regain lost levels. Any rituals or paths the Tremere was able to cast but cannot now due to the level lose are still known, but they cannot be used until the Tremere regains the lost levels. Needless to say, if the Tremere find out the Salubri have this ritual, the Tremere would triple their efforts to exterminate the Salubri.

Cross Over (Level Six)
This ritual allows a Salubri to enter the Umbra, similar to the Garou ability. The Salubri casts the ritual and rolls Willpower, target number is based on where the Salubri is. See the table below:
