Chasm
By Ben Withington
I tripped over into these emotions
Plummeting into a mirky ocean
I had to learn to swim in these tears so bitter
I had to sing to soothe these waves
To keep their roaring calm
What did you call me for?
Did you really want to see me that much?
Did you want to see the waters that I hold
For you to heal
So you could heal

Your eyes were the doorway
To your heart and the break of day
You had to learn to walk on these feelings so coarse
You had to sing to make me trip
To make me fall for you
I also called to you
In a hoarse whisper to quiet to hear
In a breathy shout too silent
For you to hear, so you could hear
