What is NCC?

The Nursing College Council and College's Graduate Student Council and Doctoral Student Council are the self-governance organizations of the student body. Their purposes include orientation and mentoring of incoming students, fostering of communication between students and faculty, membership on College committees, professional development and enhancing student life through extra curricular social and service activities.

What is the N.C.C.?

The Nursing College Council is a direct route of communication with the faculty and administration of the College of Nursing and the University of Florida Student Government. The purpose of the council is to work cooperatively with College of Nursing faculty and students to promote the school and nursing as a profession.

How is N.C.C. Funded?

The Council coordinates activities and projects that benefit the college, the university, and the students under the advisement of the student leaders and faculty. It is funded by Student Government through the Board of College Councils.

What Projects are Organized by the N.C.C. Members?

Projects and events vary each semester and the council is open to new ideas, but examples include: Junior Orientation, Pre-Nursing Seminar, Homecoming, Annual Commemoration of Graduating Seniors, and many volunteer opportunities.

How Much of My Time Will Be Involved?

Meetings are held bi-weekly with UFNSA, lasting approximately one hour. If you chose to join a committee, naturally more time will be required. Like anything else, the more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it.

What Do I Gain By Participating?

You will gain many experiences and opportunities such as:

Leadership skills

Time management skills

Sense of accomplishment & achievement

Opportunities to get to know faculty and administrators

Friendships

Community Involvement

Who is Eligible to Join?

All students who are admitted into the College of Nursing are automatically members, so come to the meetings and participate!

How Do I Become Involved?

Meetings are held on alternating Mondays throughout the year although the rooms and times may change each semester. Check the bulletin board of the College of Nursing for meeting dates, times, and places.

Each November elections are held for the Executive Board (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Activities Coordinator). Plan to run or come on voting day and show your support to someone else.
