UFNSA & NCC meeting held on January 26, 2004

 

Meeting called to order by Sarah Banks at 11:45 am

 

Guest Speakers:

1. Katherine Glazer: Diabetic Management Nurse, Board of Directors for FNA, Nurse Practitioner & Part of Sigma Theta Tau

     -She touched on how important it is to get involved in your State Nursing Association, the “Professional nurses” code of ethics & what is your responsibility as a nurse?

 

2. Rhonda Dywell: Interdisciplinary Health course and in charge of Services Learning  Project

-         She offered 25 projects of interest Ex. Elder care program: deliver meals

UFNSA:

1. We are now inviting any pre-nursing students to join any of our meetings so make sure you make them feel welcome and offer any advice you can give them.

 

2. There will be a Psych nursing convention in October if anyone is interested Jessica Camp has more info on that

 

3. Student nurses week is right around the corner, which will include: themes, prizes, faculty appreciation, senior send-off & a social with just us nurses. For more info on exact dates go to www.geocities.com/gatornursing

 

NCC:

1.     Junior appreciation award, need ballot volunteers

2.     Relay for Life

3.     Senior graduation slide show: collecting pictures

4.     Pre-nursing seminar February 24th from 6:30-7:30pm, spread the word and if you are interested in being an usher or greeter get a hold of Nancy Ho.

NCC/UFNSA Meeting: January 12, 2004

NCC Business

I.                   Introduction of new officers took place.  To get in contact with new officers or want to

find out information about volunteer opportunities or socials, you can check out our new

website at http://www.geocities.com/gatornursing/.

II.        Social Ideas

-NCC is interested to know what ideas nursing students may have for socials.

-Contact Gwen or Cliff or go on to our website.

III.       Volunteer Opportunities

-At Vista West: Music Relaxation Group. Contact Sandra Romo at [email protected]

-Joyce House (Meridian): Arts Group. Contact Sandra Romo at [email protected]

-Research project helping with questionnaires. Contact Alex at [email protected]

IV.       Orientation

-If you want to get involve in orientation during Nursing Week

UFNSA Business

III.       License Plate Fundraiser

IV.       Leadership Conference

-If you have signed up, check with Jessica Camp about times and place assigned.

V.        Orientation Volunteering

-Monday 1/26 2pm in G316 or 4pm in G307

VI.       Elementary School Volunteering

-Volunteers will be working with disabled students from the grades preschool-fifth grade.  -There is one volunteer per student.

-It is from 8:15 to noon.

-If interested, contact Kim.

VII.     Student Organizational Fair

-Get into your scrubs and stethoscopes and promote Nursing.

-It is from January 21-22, 10am-3pm

VIII.    National Student Organizational Conference (Convention)

-Held in Nashville, Tennessee on March 31

IX.       Student Nursing Week

-Activities discussed for the week. More information at next meeting.
