Ken: Well, she’s at it again.

Yamato: Is it just me or is she actually staying somewhat focused?

Ken: Just proof that miracles actually happen.

Dai-na: I’m just going to pretend that you didn’t say that. On with the story.

Saccharine Bliss

Monday morning came and Yugi was practically walking on air as he made his way to class. The others were already there. He’d been late this morning because he’d slept late. He, Yami and Seto had gone out the previous night, they’d eaten at an expensive restaurant; Seto’s treat and then they’d gone walking in the park.

Yugi blushed slightly as he remembered that first afternoon in the park. It was hard to believe it had been only three days ago. Yami had finally convinced him that if he truly loved Seto then he had to go for it. He’d been prepared for the worst when he’d led the brown-haired boy into woods.

Even if he’d been rejected; even if Seto not only hadn’t felt the same, he’d hated him for it; it would have been worth it for that one first kiss.

He’d been so enraptured by the taste of his love that he barely registered the sugar that had rested on his tongue. And when Seto had begun to respond he had been certain that he’d been dreaming.

Nothing had prepared him for the ensuing events or the way that everything he’d felt for the brunette then had multiplied instantly, magnifying to an extent that it was on equal ground with the love that he felt for his Yami. Knowing that Seto loved them both as much as they loved him made everything that much more incredible.

He sat down at his desk just before the bell rang and he caught the amused look that Seto was giving him.

Yugi spent the entire class period thinking about Seto and was positive that he didn’t hear a word the teacher had said.

Seto came over to stand by his desk but said nothing as he gathered up his books for his next class. The brunette still wore the same amused expression that he’s had when class had begun.

“It’s your fault, you know.” Yugi murmured, sparing him a mock glare.

“Oh?”

“If you hadn’t kept me and Yami out so late, I wouldn’t have slept in.”

Seto just seemed to grow that much more amused.

“I got here on time.”

“That’s because you’re not human. You’re some weird facsimile that doesn’t need sleep.” Seto blinked for a moment at the not quite insult before he laughed.

The rare sound made Yugi’s heart swell. He knew that anybody that had still been in the room was staring at them in shock, his friends included, but he didn’t care. Seeing the joy lighting his Koi’s eyes filled him with a sweet, aching warmth and had him longing to hear it more.

*You are so in love.* Came the dry, amused remark from inside his head. Yugi gave an internal exasperated sigh and mentally whacked his other playfully.

Are you saying that you’re any different?’

*If I did I’d be lying.*

He focused back on Seto who was watching him patiently; aware of what he was doing. He smiled brightly and the taller boy took some of his books, lightening the stack of what he had to carry and he sighed happily as they walked side by side through the halls, grateful that they shared their next class.

They shared all their classes actually. It was funny how fate worked that way. He was still trying to decide whether it was a blessing or a curse.

On the plus side, he was able to spend the whole day with Seto. On the down side, he would probably start failing all his classes.

Oh well, who needs an education anyway?

Seto gave him a loving gaze and he practically melted.

“I had a really great time last night, Yu-chan.” He murmured softly,  a futile effort to not draw attention. The sweet endearment still caused his heart to skip random beats. If it had been anyone else who had called him ‘chan’ he probably would have taken offense. But, he knew that when Seto said it, it was meant in a purely loving way.

Yugi beamed at him.

“So did we. You really don’t have to do such wonderful things for us. We’ll get spoiled.”

Seto subtly swept his gaze over their surroundings and amazingly found no one watching them. He ran a hand lightly over Yugi’s hair, letting it linger in the soft strands.

Yugi leaned into the sweet caress.

“You should be spoiled. You should be given everything you want without question.”

The earnest words caused a flush to spread through his cheeks

“ We only want you.”

Seto’s eyes grew misty.

“I know that. It’s one of the reasons I love you two so much. Aside from Mokuba, you and Yami are the only ones who have never wanted anything from me other than to be who I am. You have no idea how much that means to me.” His words were barely more than a whisper and they brought a sympathetic frown to his face.

He knew only a little of what Seto had endured throughout his life and it was enough to chill him. No one should have to grow up the way he did, wanted only so he could be molded into something else, so that his abilities could be utilized to fulfill someone else’s desires. Yugi was just thankful that he’d had Mokuba with him to keep him sane; otherwise…

The thought had him shivering and Seto looked over at him curiously.

Forcing a bright smile onto his face he beamed at his love.

“Have lunch with me later?”

Knowing that he was trying to change the subject and gave him a grateful look.

“Of course.” The rest of their walk through the halls was silent and Yugi made a promise to himself that he would never again let Seto feel like he was little more than a commodity. He’d make sure that the brunette knew where his true worth really was.

Shaking the depression from his mind he studied the taller boy next to him.

Thinking back now, he could precisely pinpoint the moment when he’d started falling for the young billionaire. It was just after Exodia had been summoned and Yami had done his Mind Crush. They’d both gotten a flash of something, a brief flickering that had lasted only half a second but the image had clearly burned itself into his mind.

A young boy in an orphanage, eyes wide and sparkling, a slight innocence still lingering in them. He was smiling and happy, his little brother always firmly at his side.

The child was beautiful and brilliant and, despite the loss he’d suffered peaceful.

When they’d seen him after that in the Duelist Kingdom, he’d been different carrying a slight remnant of that boy, the loyal brother clearly showing.

Yugi longed desperately to see that peace once again in Seto’s eyes and he was certain that one day he and Yami would help heal those old scars.

Not erase them; cause they were a distinct part of who he was, but to make them more bearable.

He felt a hand brush against his and he was startled out of his reverie.

He looked up at Seto who was staring at him curiously. He shook his head.

“Nan demo nai.” He murmured as they arrived at their classroom.

Ryou was already there and gave him an inquisitive look. Yugi noted absently that he had been seeing less and less of their white-haired friend and he had an unsettling feeling that his malicious counterpart was the reason. Quickly examining him he found the other boy no worse for where. In fact, he seemed to be practically glowing, a contented look settled on his face.

Deciding that whatever it was wasn’t harming him at all, he tried in vain to focus when the teacher started their English lesson. This was actually one of his better subjects so he managed to not make a total fool of himself when the teacher called on him to translate a sentence on the board.

The young woman gave him a reproving look, noticing his distraction but said nothing since he’d done it correctly. He sighed and sat back down at his desk

This was going to be a long day.

Lunch finally came and Yugi and Seto found a nice secluded spot to sit where Yami could join them. The three sat around, making light conversation and sharing their food.

Yugi moaned pitifully and leaned against Seto when the subject of his distraction in class came up.

“It’s not my fault!” He insisted, grabbing Seto by the chin. “If you had to chose between figuring out how to say ‘I have a clean house,’ in English or thinking about this face, what would you do?” Yami let out a hearty laugh and Seto gave Yugi a withering look. But the affection that shone plainly in his eyes caused it loose some of its effect.

Yami shook his head, his laughter beginning to reside.

“I can’t argue with you there.”

If Yugi was going to say anything else he was pleasantly deterred when Seto tilted his face up and kissed him softly. The small boy hmmed appreciatively and leaned into him while Yami watched them patiently.

He enjoyed seeing his light half so happy and every time he’d seen Yugi’s glowing smile over the weekend he’d loved Seto even more for it. It hadn’t taken him long to see that these two boys were going to mean everything to him. And he’d had little difficulty accepting it.

Even his subdued, but deeply ingrained emperor’s pride considered them to be suitable mates for him, both equally worthy of the honor in their own right.

He shook the egotistical notion from his mind. He was no longer an emperor and, to him, it no longer mattered. Yu Gi Oh was someone who’d ruled thousand’s of years ago; he was Yami now. It was a change he was more than content with, he decided as he watched his two loves.

And perhaps, more than just his title had changed. There were things he’d done without thought in his previous life, things that came naturally as his born right, that he couldn’t imagine himself doing now, and not just because of what Yugi would think.

Though it was true that the younger one’s opinion played an important role in all his decisions but he felt that he had gentled.

When Seto and Yugi finally parted Yami gave the brunette a moment before leaning in to claim his mouth himself.

“The taller boy’s lips were firm and insistent against his. Where he was sure that they had been soft and coaxing for Yugi, they were demanding for him, something that pleased him. He had no need for romancing and seduction. He wanted to taste the other boy’s full passion as well as his love on his lips. He shivered a bit when a firm hand pressed against the small of his back, holding him close.

He allowed a questing tongue to enter his mouth but fought with it when it tried to dominate. Their mouths dueled, neither willing to yield.

While the one hand remained at his back, the other pulled his shirt from his pants and slid up underneath. He practically purred at the contact.

The bell rang, signifying the end of lunch . Yami growled against the other’s mouth, reluctantly dragging his lips away.

With a sigh kissed Yugi and went back into the puzzle.

It was times like this that he wished he were just a normal person. Wished he could go with them back into the school and spend the rest of the day with them instead of inside his soul room.

Sure, he could still talk to Yugi if he wanted but it wasn’t the same.

With a sigh, he watched the two pack up their things and rush off to their next class.

The rest of the school day was relatively uneventful. Seto lingered outside with Yugi as people were going home. He wanted to go back to the game shop with him, or wherever, he wanted to spend the rest of the day with him but…

“I have to go to work.” He murmured sourly.

Yugi made no vocal complaint but he pouted woefully.

I left early Friday and I took the rest of the weekend off. I really can’t afford not to. “He insisted, his voice not sounding the slightest bit convincing, even to himself.

Yugi nodded but neither of them moved. Instead they just stood their looking at each other.

Seto could feel people watching them and it only worsened his already depleting  mood. Hadn’t anybody ever seen two archrivals making mooneyes at each other before? Geez!

Finally, after giving his love one last anguished gaze he went over to where his limo was waiting for him.

To keep his resolve, he refused to look back at the smaller boy until he was inside the vehicle, the door firmly shut between them.

It finally occurred to him how ridiculous he was being. It wasn’t like he was going away somewhere and wouldn’t be back for month. He could call Yugi after he got off, and he would see him in school tomorrow. He was beyond over reacting. But still, the feeling that swept over him whenever he wasn’t with them was something that he wanted to avoid at all costs. It made him feel cold and hollow. Like the way he had felt before he had met Yugi.

It was something he never wanted to return to.

To keep the feeling at bay he thought back to how the three of them had spent the previous night in the park. They’d just had dinner and had decided that they wanted to take in the night air with a walk. They hadn’t actually done that much walking truthfully though. Yugi had dragged them to the playground and they’d spent most of their times on the swings, Yugi alternating between his and Yami’s laps.

They’d played and talked and laughed and had become oblivious to the passing hours. It had been well after midnight when they’d finally gone home.

With a fond smile, Seto decided that the park was quickly becoming one of his favorite places.

Yugi wandered aimlessly around the game shop while Yami sat at the counter watching him with growing irritation. Yugi was oblivious to it. He hated not being with Seto and it was driving him crazy.

To him, their relationship was still so new and he wanted as much of it as possible.

Finally Yami’s agitated voice broke through his haze.

“Will you calm down, Yugi. You’re going to wear a hole in the floor at this rate.” Yugi paused and looked over at his dark counterpart.

“But I’m going nuts, Yami. I want to be with Seto.” He pouted.

Yami sighed and walked over to him, placing a sympathetic hand on his shoulder.

“I do too, but he was right. He has to work. He’s responsible for keeping the place running and his pride won’t allow him to let somebody else do it.”

Yugi nodded in defeat and was about go upstairs when something occurred to him and he looked up at his other with hopeful eyes.

“Let’s go visit him. That way he can still work and we can still see him.” He suggested.

Yami was about to say no when he caught the almost desperate look in the smaller one’s eyes. Truthfully, he wanted to go as much as Yugi did.

“Alright. We’ll go. But if we start to get in his way were leaving.”

Yugi nodded emphatically, already heading for the door, a large smile plastered on his face.

With an amused sigh, he followed him out.

He just hoped that Seto didn’t mind the intrusion.

~~Owari~~

Dai-na: Well that’s the end of that but I still have no real plot. (sigh)

Yami: What do you expect, you’re working with amateurs.

Yamato: hey!!!

Ken: What are you doing here? And why aren’t you dead?!

Yami: Trade secret.

Dai-na ~.~; ……. Anyway. All suggestions are still welcome. Please let me know what you think.
