Disclaimer:
Okay, second time around. Still not mine -_-;;
Okay,
for those who missed this the first time. I have given the Dark Magician and
Blue Eyes, names, for the purpose of this chapter. It’s weird to call them that,
and kids awkward. So I named them Maho (magic) and Ryu (dragon). Pretty simple,
right?
Well,
anyway, enjoy the story…. Again.
Shattered
dawn

Ryu
opened his eyes with a gasp, his eyes wide with shock as he felt weird,
unfamiliar energies coursing through him. He felt disoriented, unable to
discern where the weird magic around him was coming from. The last thing he
remembered, Yugi had forfeited the battle against his master and he and Maho
had been sent back to their respective cards. Looking around him, it only took
a moment to realize that he most certainly wasn’t in his card. He didn’t know
exactly where he was, but it wasn’t familiar. He couldn’t see anything but a
haze of blue fog, and there was a warmth in the air that threatened to envelop
him. It was stifling, but not unpleasant.
He
felt…. Safe. There was a sense of comfort in the air that he relished, his
torrid emotions crying out for it, and he wrapped his arms lightly around
himself.
He
jumped when he felt a hand come to rest on his shoulder, and shivered, looking
up to find the source. Tears welled in his eyes at the sight he was presented
with and he blinked them away rapidly, willing this not to be a hallucination.
Looking
down at him was an all-too-familiar face with golden hair that fell to his
shoulders and shimmering cobalt eyes. The sight was bittersweet and he felt a
pang in his chest that if he reached out, his hand would pass right through the
other. But something made him reach out anyway and he gasped softly when his
hand came in contact with the other’s cool cheek.
“Maho…”
Ryu didn’t quite know what to say. The only times that he and his love had ever
been this close was when they were in battle, and the pain of fighting one
another far overshadowed any joy that came from seeing one another. But now,
here they were, all alone on this barren plane, no battle, no duelists, just
the two of them and Ryu couldn’t have stopped the rivers of tears that streamed
down his cheeks if he had wanted to.
The
blonde mage leaned forward and licked one of the salty rivulets away; his mouth
lingering after it was gone. Ryu shivered at the contact before throwing
himself against the other, sobs wracking his body uncontrollably. It was just
too much and he was afraid that if he looked up at the other he would be gone.
The
mage just rubbed his back soothingly, murmuring softly to him, unaware of the
tears that stained his own cheeks as well.
“Shh…
Ryu,… It’s okay….” He soothed, his voice choked with emotion.
The
dragon-boy looked up at his love.
“Maho,
what is this? Where are we? Why are we here?” He fired off questions in rapid
succession, still unable to believe that his Aisuru was here with him. The
blonde mage gave him a soft smile, running a hand lightly through his spiked
hair.
“Seto
gave Yugi your card.” He told him softly. Ryu was shocked to say the least and,
for a moment, he felt abandoned before he realized his master’s reasoning.
“He
doesn’t think that he will make it out of Pegasus’ castle alive.” He concluded
aloud, frowning in thought. Maho nodded in agreement, then smiled at him
reassuringly.
“Don’t
worry, Love, Master Yugi and Master Yami will make sure that nothing happens to
him.”
Ryu
nodded, but he wasn’t so sure. He had a bad feeling about the things to come.
He sighed a little and looked back at Maho.
“What
is this place?” He asked in confusion, looking around at the odd abyss around
them. “Why are we here?” The blonde mage chuckled softly, his hand gently
rubbing the back of Ryu’s neck.
“I
do not know. When I was pulled back from our last battle, I found myself here.
There is a strange magic present here, but I feel that it is a friendly, if not
familiar force.” He murmured thoughtfully.
Ryou
looked up at him in confusion.
“What
do you mean, ‘familiar’?” He asked.
Maho
gave him a considering look, his expression thoughtful.
“I
believe that the power that brought us here, what ever it is, belongs to one of
Master Yugi’s friends.” He stated simply, his mind mulling over his theories.
Ryu’s eyes widened at that, and he simply started, startled for a moment before
sighing lightly, leaning against the other’s chest.
“Whatever
the reason, I’m glad for it.” He murmured, nuzzling the mage softly. Maho smiled
down at him lovingly, moving his hand from the boy’s neck to his cheek,
caressing it lightly before tilting his chin up.
Ryu’s
breath caught in his throat as he stared up at the other, seeing the intensity
in his eyes as their gazes locked. He shivered a little, leaning into the
taller boy, watching as his gradually lowered his face to his, their mouths
meeting in a delicate kiss. It was perfect. The way that their mouths melded
together without awkwardness and hesitation. It put all of his fantasies to
shame and he nearly broke the kiss in surprise at the flood of sensations that
he felt. He nearly cried at the feeling. He had waited so long for this and it
was more wonderful than he had ever known possible. He dug his fingers into the
satiny purple material of the other boy’s clothes and clung to him tightly.
Even when the kiss ended, neither of them let go of the other, their hands
roaming languidly, soothing and exploring, taking every detail to memory. There
was no rush. They had waited so long that they wanted to miss nothing of this
amazing experience. He laid down, bringing the taller boy with him, covering
his slight form. He held him close, refusing to let go. He was still afraid
that this was all some sort of torturous dream that he would wake from, alone
and in pain.
Maho
looked at him with understanding sky-colored eyes and leaned down, pressing
small butterfly kisses over his face and neck, He sighed and brought his hands
up to tangle his fingers in the other’s mass of golden hair.
His
hands paused halfway.
Maho
stared down at him, dazed, his eyes wide and wild as the color visibly drained
from his face. The mage was gasping softly for air and the pain was clear in
his expression, looking as if his own heart was being ripped from his chest.
Cold panic seeped into Ryu’s veins as he stared up at his love, torn apart with
concern for the other boy.
“Maho?
Maho! What’s wrong?? Come on, please, talk to me. MAHO!” He pleaded
desperately, trying to gain a response from the stricken mage. Finally, his
shy-blue eyes cleared lightly, enough to settle on him, and he heaved an
internal sight of relief before heart-wrenching tears began to stream down the
mage’s pale cheeks.
“Ouji-sama….”
Seto
tensed as he stared at the older man across the platform, a trickle of sweat
sliding down the back of his neck as he swallowed deeply, knowing he’d lost. He
multitude of sensations hit him at once; Anger at himself for having failed his
brother, shame for the same reason, and fear, now wondering what the American had
planned for him. He resisted the urge to back away, standing his ground and
glaring at the older man who was chuckling slightly, obviously seeing every
little thing that went through his head. On impulse, he let loose a string of
harsh expletives, filling his mind with very intense, painful images of what he
would like to do to the silver haired freak. He nearly smirked to himself when
the older man made a small, startled sound.
He
had to bite his tongue to keep quiet as the older man wagged a finger, tsking
softly. As it was he wanted nothing more
than to break that finger off and cram it down his throat.
“Tsk
tsk tsk, Such crude thoughts. I expected better from you, Kaiba boy. But don’t
worry, you won’t have to suffer your loss for long. In fact, you won’t suffer
any more at all, desu.” The older man all but cooed, his voice sickeningly
sweet as he held up a blank dueling card. A ball of ice dropped into the pit of
his stomach and, for a moment, he felt as if he might be sick. So this was it?
Everything was going to end just like this? Just when he had finally found Yugi
and Yami, when everything was starting to go right, it was all going to end.
The thought ate away at him, flooding him with sorrow and his eyes darted up to
Yugi’s, something close to fear reflecting in their azure depths as Pegasus’ Sennen
eye started to glow.
From
within his soul room, Yami watched on, seeing everything that his Hikari saw.
When Yugi’s eyes met Seto’s and he saw that look in the brunette’s expression,
he released a choked cry. He couldn’t let this happen. Not now.
With
a silent apology to his Hikari, for whatever might happen, he took control of
the younger boy’s body. In an amazing display of agility, he leapt from the balcony
where Yugi and the other’s had stood, watching, and landed on the bridge-way
where Seto and Pegasus had been dueling. His landing was less than graceful,
but it hardly mattered to him as he through himself in front of his brunette
lover, just before the consuming light hit him.
An
agonized scream was torn from his throat as the pain enveloped him. He could
feel his soul being ripped apart from Yugi’s, splitting them into with cruel
intensity. Thought fled his mind completely as the pain consumed him and he
remembered nothing, only the fact that the most important part of himself was
now missing. The pain was the only thing that he had with him when his
consciousness went white and he faded into the void.
When
the light faded from the dueling area, no one quite knew what to expect, but
the sight left everyone, even Pegasus, stunned and confused as they stared at
the two boy’s on the dueling platform. Seto’s eyes were wide with disbelief as
he stared down at Yugi who’s eyes were impossibly wide, the pain in his
expression hurting anyone who looked at it. The brunette dropped to his knees
beside the softly shaking Yugi, said boy slumping against him as he trembled,
trying to get some grasp on the emptiness that filled him, the hole greater
than the one he had felt before he had solved the puzzle. His hands clutched at
the golden artifact around his neck, crying out in his mind repeatedly for his dark
half, trying to get some kind of response. The tears flooded silently down his
cheeks as none came.
Slowly,
as if by some unspoken cue, Yugi and Seto looked up at Pegasus who was still
holding a the card in his hand, though it was no longer blank.
“YAMI!!!!!!”
~~Owari~~
Dai-na:
Well, that was….. different. Shorter, but different.
Yami;
What the hell have you done????
Yugi:
That’s what I want to know!
Dai-na: Now, now, don’t worry your pretty little heads. You’ll find out soon
enough, I suppose.
Yami:
-_-;;;
Yugi:
Please review, maybe then I can get my Yami back sooner.
Dai-na:
Isn’t he cute? You heard the kid. Review ^_~
