Guide to Gateway
Gateway is a new concept to many role-players. Many people are used to the traditional ringed battles between two wrestlers through speech and skills. Gateway will not follow this patern.
First there is no ring. Sometimes in certain situations there may be a ring, but there is no official ring, there is no venue or offical city, and there are no official fans. There can be a venue at some times, there can be a ring at some times, there can be a city at some times, and there can be fans at some times, but there will not always be these things you are used to in normal e-wrestling.
Instead you can have your battles in many situated areas. The number of areas you can have a battle is unlimited. You can battle in the coliseum, or in the woods.
But keep in mind the time frame, this is about a 500 AD styled era. The planet itself is about the size of Jupiter, but has one large island continent abotu the size of Australia on it. This planet is definately not Earth. The name of the planet is Scar. Although you will not know the name of the planet as each adventurer will probably give the planet it's own name. The planet is a large collection of many surroundings on planet Earth. There are rolling hills as like in Ireland, and have forests as in the Amazons, every setting on planet Earth is wrapped into this one continent.
But you may ask, how would a person get to this planet? Well the key is there are Gateways to different worlds. Each world is linked to one planet, planet Scar. Not everyone can travel through Gateways as only so many know about them. The technologized worlds have not been able to figure out how the Gateways exactly work, so the only ones who use them are the more med-eval era peoples. Once in this world sadly there is no return to your normal world. You walk through a small nebula and find yourself falling on to this new world with no way back. You can return, but finding the way back is they key to the game. There are several ways to get back to your own world, on this planet you are 10 times as weak as you were on your first world. If I could list 200 lbs. on my own planet, I can only lift 20 lbs. on this planet. This planet has a fairly strong gravity with nearly 10 times that of your own world. So there forth even the mightiest and biggest of warriors such as dragons and dwarves start off slow moving.
Battles are decided by several factors. If you and your opponent are 20 fighting points apart, than who ever has the most between you two gets an automatic win, as the game prospers this number may be changed. Other than this it is based on role-plays. The winner is decided by the role-plays and the overall dominator is decided by role-plays as well. To lose is to die. People are brought back to life after death. In death you gain some points, but not as many as when winning, when winning you gain 5 points, when losing you gain 2 points.
There are several different stages in the power flux of a being on this planet. Your warriors evolve in this game. You may start with a warrior, but end with a mage warrior. Different beings have different abilities and transformations. If you die while you've collected enough fighting points to move to the next step you are re-incarnated as this being. Through re-incarnation names do not change. There is a list provided with all the transformations.
When you enter this world you have but one weapon, choose wisely because you only can have one weapon. The power of the weapon depends on what race you choose. Warriors are better with swords or shields, dragos are better with bashing weapons such as a tail whip, a dwaf is better with a wielding axe, while a warlock is better with a spell book.
There are going to be shops open where you can upgrade your spells and weapons. For Warlocks or magic creatures you can buy new spells to add to your book, you start off with one spell, Blitz, which is a fire attack. Everyone else can either buy new weapons or have their current weapon upgraded. There will be a vaste selection available. Keep in mind the weapon you choose is the weakest of choice, all weapons start off at about the same strength.
When role-playing you don't know who you are fighting. When you role-play it is not against the match you are role-playing for, but for a story line. When role-playing make sure that you do not reveal who your opponent is. You do not know who your opponent is before hand.
An Adventure (equal to card) will involve many things. First you must send in a description of how you'll enter the specified area, and any interactions. This must be sent in once a week for every adventure. The whole adventure is not seperate matches but one large story line. Many battles will go on at once, there is no official main events, just last battles of the night. There forth your rank in Gateway RPG will not reflect on your position on the card.
Each person has their own personal mission, many may be conquerors, others explorers but everyone has a mission. In cards you do not neccesarily have to battle the person you are fighting against. If you get in contact with that person you can discuss an alliance. If you full-fill an alliance, and both send in for the alliance, neither will die, but one will still get 5 points, and another 2 points. An alliance means you can use each other in RPs and that in all your battles you'll either be split some how to meet up with each other, or double team someone.
| You distribute points between certain things each
week. You must send in a form each week with your ponts. If you do not specify
the proper amount of points the Overseer (President) will designate where your points
go. You have six options of where to put your points, each will affect your battles
and your evolutions Strength: How strong a person is. The stronger you are the heavier weapons you can use. The heavier the weapon, the stronger it is. Speed: How fast one can move, the faster you are the more you can dodge attacks, and the more you cna retaliate Stamina: After receiving an attack how fast you can recover to continue with the battle Dexderity: How smart a person is, a person with high dexderity will know how to wield their weapon better and know the weaknesses of their opponents Endurance: How long one can last in battle before they give up. A person with high endurance can fight longer battles than one with low endurance Charisma: How you look. One is less likely to hit someone hard who looks like royalty than one who looks like a beggar. |
