Journal #5 – How is a clock like the Bubonic Plague?
The Bubonic Plague is like a clock in the sense that they both put limitations on the time people have to live. Everything in life is managed by time, and time even puts a limit on the time people have to actually be alive. The bubonic plague also places a limit on the amount of time a person has to live by infecting them with a terminal disease that often kills the victim within days. In the middle ages, a cure for the bubonic plague was never found. Similarly, time has an irreversible effect; it can neither be healed nor stopped. Both eventually bring resolution to whomever is stricken with them. They are both things which ultimately prove to be the downfall of humankind.
