THE PEACEFUL WAR

We spent over twenty years
Growing farther and farther apart
We've shed so many silent tears
That we hide deep inside our heart
Even though we both know
It should be time to let go

There's never been any hate
We still like eachother
But as we sit here and wait
Our hearts go on aching and suffer
There is nothing that we can do
To bring back the love that we once knew

We're fighting a peaceful war
Each struggling with our love
And neither one can take much more
We've both had quite enough
Do we give up and walk away
Or do we stay this way

So together we keep trying
To bring back our old dreams
And together we keep lying
It's like chasing moon beams
They simply cannot be caught
Whether we want them or not

Tell me, how much longer can this go on
Before all our sanity is gone
Do we just walk away
Or stay as friends this way
