The DISTANT Page
Getting together with this band in 2000 was fun. We all knew each other from being in bands previously. I don't think any of us had any expectations for this band from the beginning, It wasn't until after we put plenty of time into it. I was in the band close to 4 years, ending in 2004. We released 3 CDs and played alot of shows with really no recognition. I can still say I had alot of fun.
One of the shows at the Rhythm Rocket in Mt. Clemens
I can't explain how much I had invested into this band. We really put alot into our music and recordings. This band should have gone further. Call it what you will but when I tried to get the ball rolling, my ideas were shot down.   Nothing was getting done at all to promote this band. We were not using the internet to our advantage. This band had NO press at all. These are all starting points! Playing live shows and giving hundreds of CDs away did not do much for us. Waiting for other people to do things for us was a waste of time. I was NEVER content with this while others in the band seemed fine ........ The musical styling at the beginning of this band was really different from what I've played in the past. What we had started was like a distorted 'U2'. I started playing the 5 string Bass full time. We were very creative. Through time we eventually transformed into a New Metal type band, musical fundimentals were out of place at this time, though the possibility for success was greater than ever. We spent well over a year recording our full length CD 'The Fall'.. We spent time on small details which lead to a monumental achievment for all of us. This CD was special, so special it deserved more time for artwork we didn't give it. Another blown oppurtunity this band had. More wrong desicions this band made. We didn't give the CDs to the right people,  we gave the CDs away at shows instead of trying to sell them, Which selling CDs is a bands ultimate goal..........  Obviously I'm no part of Distant, just a cherished memory for me. Another chapter in my journey.  We worked hard and the only rewards we got were seeing the people enjoying the music. I had the oppurtunity to play venues I'd never played before. A great experience, I just wish I could have kept my original expectations. The band broke up trying to keep a stable line up after my departure. Joe the Vocalist from Distant and myself are now jamming in a band together called 'Ghost at the Wheel'
My last show. I was playing my new G&L 5 string
