Gary & Ash - Known as Palletshipping, ShiShi. One of the most popular. People say there is plenty of evidence to support the pairing of Satoshi and Shigeru. Especially in the episode "The Battle of the Badge". Supporters of ShiShi believe that their rivalry is to cover up something more. Is it possible?
Gary & Misty - Known as Egoshipping. This one got started, a couple people followed. Basically its a pairing between Kasumi and Shigeru. I don't know where people find evidence to support this theory, maybe I should pay more attention to Egoshipping sites.
Gary & May (his sister, not the new girl) - Known as Incestshipping. Someone with a sick mind came up with this one. Yeah, theres this picture, but how would YOU feel if your RIVAL had a huge crush on YOUR sister? Anyway, in the anime the only family member they ever mention of Gary's is Professor Oak. This one, is definitly not happening.
Gary & Sabrina - Considering they've never met, I doubt it. There's no room for evidence.
Gary & Jeselle - Again, NEVER MET.
Gary & May (the new girl, you know after Misty leaves) - This is one I came up with. Why? I don't know. There is no evidence (yet). I'm not even sure if Gary will appear in Pokemon Advanced (although I hope so, anybody know? Tell me!). Since WB only released two episodes from the new series I don't know yet and probably won't until around this coming fall or winter (>_<).
So which one of these do I support? I've grown on ShiShi a bit. Its the one with the most evidence. So, thats where I stuck. Besides I can't stand Misty. Anyway, this leaves controversy between the ShiShi fans and AAML fans. I don't think AAML has as much evidence as ShiShi. Seriously, most of the AAML evidence was added in by the dub translators. In fact, in the original version of "Misty Meets Her Match" Rudy actually asked her to MARRY him. Would you consider marrying someone if you KNEW you were in love with someone else? Didn't think so. Plus, Misty's Song is NOT EVIDENCE! It was written for the ENGLISH soundtrack. Oh, and another thing this:
is not evidence. It is not official art. It is fanart, and to prove it, buy the Electric Tale of Pikachu manga. It's in the fanart section and so is the artist's name and age. Plus in one episode, Misty makes a comment while talking to Ash "You and I will be married to someday." She did not necessarily mean that she and Ash would marry each other, but that someday they to (like Brock) would marry someone who loved them.
So, why do the dub translators find it necessary to stick in so much AAML evidence? They won't even let Sakura and Syaoran like each other in the Card Captor Sakura dub. Maybe ShiShi is the concept Japan is heading for and the dub translators are freaking out like they did for Sailor Moon (I know, not the same company, but it'd be the same idea). There are lots of same sex relationships in anime. (Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, etc.) On general T.V. too (can you say Will & Grace?). They could get away with calling Zoisite a woman and Haruka & Michiru cousins (which was the worst excuse they came up with). But how did they plan to get around Touya and Yukito's relationship? They've become closer than before. I see that one coming, and I'm not buying. So, is AAML the excuse to ShiShi, its possible. Thats my theory.
Now, lets look at the concept of ShiShi. Many people against ShiShi look at the beginning of the anime and say the way they act, they can't like each other at all. They don't even know each other. Umm, ok, how big is Pallet? Unless Ash and Gary have never gone outside in their lives, they probably already know each other. Professor Oak seems to know Ash, so why wouldn't his grandson? The ultimate ShiShi episode was "Battle of the Badge" in which Gary loses to Giovanni and his Mewtwo. Ash runs right to Gary's side. Also, how can Gary travel around with about 6 girls and not start a relationship with a single one? Ok. I doubt it. One more thing, how many guys will WILLINGLY wear a pink hawaiian shirt?
I rest my case.
