Bronze Age axe dates from 1000 b.c.
I would like to Thank Rafael,
Who has sent this wonderful picture of a dream find
Rafael, is fifteen years old and comes from Holland.
He says there is a small imperfection with the axe.
In the eye there is some bronze left, normally this would have been cleaned out completely,
but he understands that because the axe was meant as an offering to the Gods,
then it wasn't important to make it perfect.
Well it looks Perfect to me and one of the many things still on my wish list!!!!
He found the axe on grassland; and on the same grass field he has also found a medieval crossbow arrow (bolt).
Thanks again for sending your wonderful find Rafael,
we can now all Drool over it

Hi Gary;
I just stumbled across your web-site.
Congratulations on an excellent and informative site.
I use my Australian made 'MineLab" detector here in Auckland,New Zealand.
Recently I recovered this silver badge which I have been unable to
identify.
I believe it to be a military badge because of the
fitting
on the reverse (the type where there are two raised loops
through
which a small metal bar would be fitted).
The item is 46mm by 42mm and
is marked Silver but is not hallmarked in any way.
I hope someone is able to ID it for me.
The badge shows the letters SSNC (the sequence is unclear)
could be
NCSS. The laurel wreaths are nicely chased and are similar to
Warrant
Officer badges of rank in the UK Army .
Here is a photo that I hope
you can use on your site:
So who can help out with an ID????
