Assignment 4, Part B, step 3

I read several articles on DOM Level 3 Core specs (still under discussion) and DOM Level 2 Core specs (finalized in January, as I understand), found at W3C, the World Wide Web consortium and standards group. These articles can be found here. The articles deal with the DOM (the Document Object Model), including CSS2, Javascript, and HTML 4.01.

In the Developer's Section at Netscape.com, it is discussed that Netscape 6 is "continually evolving as a browser" and that many changes have been impletemented, and other are still to come. Netscape 6.2 (the latest available version) does at this time support three key Web standards; HTML 4.01, CSS2, and DOM 2 (the Level 2 core). There are, however, also some small bugs (errors) in some objects. These are in the process of being corrected, and Netscape lists bugfixes in a number of areas, some of which are still yet to come. There are a number of pages detailing these changes.

Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 6.0 for Windows was discussed here, where it is indicated: "Internet Explorer 6 supports CSS level 1 and DOM level 1, as well as enhanced support for HTML 4.0--all recommendations from the W3C." There are also many new enhancements, some involving DHTML, and others native to Microsoft, from which users will benefit. These seven-plus pages list these details, with explanations on their usage.
