Graphics Terms
- Background: In PhotoDraw 2000, the white rectangular area where artwork is created;a also, the blank or colored area on a web page behind all text and graphics.
- Edge: the border or frame of an object.
- Align: to line up an object or objects by top, bottom, left or right sides, or center.
- PNG: Portable Network Graphics file; similar to jpeg, but less lossy like gif files.
- Vector Graphics: mathematically calculated objects composed of line segments and points.
- Bitmap: image composed of small squares (dots) or pixels, can reference computer screen in size.
- Crop: to remove the unwanted portion of an image.
- Hue: the color of an object
- Fill: the area inside an object.
- Group: multiple images treated as a single object, with a specific alignment.
- JPEG: image format for photos, created by the Joint Photographic Experts Group, more lossy.
- GIF: image format, Graphics Interchange Format, works best on fewer colors, less lossy.
- Bitmap graphics: image composed of small squares (dots) or pixel. Usually a large file size for even a small image--files often too large for web usage.
- Pixel: small square or dots, that when group together, create a monitor's image.
- Arrange: to move an image forward or backward, or in front of or behind other images.
- Saturation: the amount of color in an image
