Rotations in READ 180?
Just 34 percent of our nation 's twelfth graders meet the National Assessment of Educational Progress standard of reading for their grade level. Between 1996 and 2006, the average literacy level required for all American occupations is expected to rise by 14 percent. (Barton, 2000) The gap between the preparedness of our high school students and the requirements they will face in the job market is large and alarming.
READ 180 is a proven solution that produces quantifiable learning gains among struggling readers whose reading achievement is below the proficient level.
In the Curry 's READ 180 double block at Vero Beach High School - Freshmen Learning Center, students will travel between four rotations that include:  Whole Group, Small Group, Reading Zone, & Computer  Zone.

   Grading Policy
Whole Group = 17 %
Small Group = 26%
Reading Zone = 26%
Computer Zone = 26%
Homework = 5%.

Supplies:
1. A pencil each day.
2. A pack of notebook paper to be left in class.

Do Not forget...
*Reading homework is due every Friday, and it consists of reading an article from the newspaper (provided to every student on Monday), writing a  review of it in the format of Cornell Notes, and turning both in stapled together!

When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of
myself in the world, I would do that again by reading,
just as I did when I was young.
