The life of Sir John Danvers
c.1588 - 1655

Portaits
There are two known portraits of Sir John Danvers. Well only one actually as the oval above, which is the most often seen portrait of Sir John, is taken from the portrait below and reversed.
Originals of the oval print, by an unknown artist, are located at the British Museum and the National Portrait Gallery.
This print is from Aubrey's Brief Lives
Folio Society edition, page 95.
This copy of the oval portrait also appears in a book British Autography published for John Thane  in 1788.

Beneath is Sir John's autograph spelt Davers as was common in those days.
