Ghorapani and Chitre - fifth night
From Poon hill we hiked down to Ghorapani, a descent of about 1500 feet. They had solar heated showers for about a buck! After 4 days, a shower is just what was needed. After a brief snack at one of the stops, we descended down, down, down about 2000 feet to Chitre. We camped above another trekking group of Japanese tourists who can be seen at the left eating breakfast. They all had matching vests, packs, and umbrellas. It was pretty funny. There was restaurant there in which we ate breakfast and dinner. It was a good thing as the temperature was quite quite cold. It was above freezing, but not much.. We played a lot of Galbraith here while others played Sets. That's Andrea and Ann on the left. Also that's my blue shirt and socks drying by the heater.
People - Nolan is teaching 'Slap' to the Sherpas. Nepali's love to play cards and they had a lot of fun learning this game. Across from Nolan is Nawong. Our cook's name is Kamisingh and one of his helpers was Tika. Angelu is another Sherpa. The Sherpa tribe are all guides. They do not carry loads.
