NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL                            THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW
In December-2003 there was an auction of some prop items that were used on THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW. I successfully bid on and won AUNT BEE'S toaster.

To those of you who watch the show, the toaster can be seen sitting on the counter next to the back door. However, it was just there for show. This may be the only prop in TV history to have a stunt double. Another push-down toaster was used when making toast. The one for show is a SUNBEAM toaster. I call it a gravity toaster. You place the bread slices in the slots and they automatically go down without pushing any controls. When toasted, they automatically rise. It was seen in action just once in the Episode 213: HELEN, the AUTHORESS. This is the episode in which she writes a children's book.

The MONETT TIMES newspaper in MONETT, MISSOURI did an article about it on December 25, 1903. Me and the toaster, or is it the toaster and I, got our picture on the front page. Yes, I do sign autographs!

The next time you watch THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW and see the toaster sitting on the kitchen counter, remember that a NORTHEAST graduate owns it.
