Throughout the 70's and 80's there were tons of slasher flicks. first it was my main man Michael myers in the the classic John Carpenter film "Halloween" next up was everyones favorite hockey masked psycho "Jason" in Friday the 13th. a few years later. Wes craven ("Last house on the left") had a new idea for the future of slasher, and that new idea was Freddy Badass Krueger. when nightmare on elm street came out nonone new what to expect. after seeing a killer who enters your dreams, 1,000,000's of kids wet there adolescent pants. sure i was scared while watching Halloween and Friday, but this was different, this movie hit you in the most vulnerable of places, whenyour asleep. Freddy Krueger is a terrifying yet genius creation that even today shocks the hell out of people who watch it.
Gore: pretty crazy stuff happens in it. we get a girl dragged up the wall by the invisible freddy, and a guyser of blood that shoots out of a bed
Nudity: one side shot of Nancy's breasts in the tub.
Pace: good pace taking its time to set up its story
Scary: if you find a serial killer that murders people in there dreams scary then you damn right its scary
Story: very different for a slasher flick. i have to give props to Wes on this one
Overall no doubt a wondeful horror movie and one that should be seen by all. the movie has spawned 7 sequals and continues on as one of the great slasher flicks of our time
