To have a film take place over the course of a century within the same hotel room is an intriguing idea, and if only these characters were mildly interesting or interconnected in some tangible way other than this basic concept then it wouldve been a lot more entertaining to watch. Its just too easy to take a bunch of dramatic stories and throw them all together into one film something else needs to serve as an anchor. But director David Weaver produces many beautiful shots in this film my favorite being the one that shows us each storyline by tracking the camera around and fading out to make it all come together seamlessly. But what exactly is this film trying to say?
Although perhaps they remained true to their time period reasonably well, I cant really say that any of these stories were particularly interesting. Basically every story is hampered by phony dialogue and melodramatic actions Weaver was clearly trying to be too intellectual here; everything just seems too vague and disconnected. The reincarnation idea that we get at the end is alright for those two segments but what exactly is the purpose of every other one? If there is another common connecting theme between each segment, its far too vague for me to figure out.
