This is one of my favorite photos of the whole trail. It's a shot of the coast line looking north from a view point. It is one of the only places where you get more then a few feet above sea level. The West Coast Trail is a beautiful place to hike regardless of the waether. I must stress however that the trail can be a very dangerous place. Between the surge channels, tides, ladders and creek crossings there is plenty to worry about. We ran in to several il-equipped hikers who were regretting their decision to do the trail.  As an idea of how innocent mistakes can be very costly, Wayne and I decided to venture down to Tsusiat falls despite the storm. When we got down there we discovered two hikers who had tried the beach route and who were now cut off because of the storm and the tide. Had we not come along they surely would have died.  We were able to toss them a rope and pull them accross the water. They were wet and cold but they were able to finish their trip. Every year people are resqued from this trail and many years people die on it. Please be careful and enjoy!
