Hollow Threats
They are sung out everywhere
Hollow threats no one ever intends to carry out
"I'll shoot you"
"I'll strangle you"
"I'll never forgive you"
"You'll regret it"
Where did we learn
to fill the air with such negativity?
When did we suddenly find it
necessary to threaten everyone and everything?
If we answer this,
will we find the answer to war?
Will we see that there is no need
for words so harsh?
A dreamer's questions,
they have no real answers.
Still we have to wonder...
don't we?
If we accept without question,
are we making the best of free will?
Yet there must be balance...
blind faith against questioning.
Truth against lies.
Love against hate.
Dark against light.
Should the scales tilt...
should balance fail...
only silence will remain.
