Soul Warriors
He was chosen to fight a battle few could win
and accepted the challenge without regret
demons surround him
invade his life
stab and scratch and claw at his sanity with all their might
making him stronger and wiser as they do
It is a battle he fights alone by choice
others would help but he pushes them away
fears for them as he feels what he knows
holds back what he most needs to protect
even those who need no protection for they were sent to help
he becomes a loner when he should not be alone
She stepped into his head
he invited her without truly realizing
she saw him
saw what he refuses to let himself see
knows she will be the one to carry the burden with him
if any are allowed simply because it is her task
He taught her strength
she has to refrain
from using this strength on her teacher
he taught her well
perhaps too well for his own liking
he taught her love
trust
healing
and she can only hope
in the end
he will admit what she knows already
in the deepest part of her soul
